My final thoughts on S3 - Ethan was the favorite from practically day one. With only his lies to Silas as his only visible downfall. I find it interesting that everyone "loved" Lex. When you look at the total of votes cast for anyone, Lex easily was the champ. Sure he was out in front - he still could have been a leader without sucking up the votes.

Of all the conclusions, the one that shocked me the most was Kim J.'s absolute dislike of Tom. The way she talked about him on the final episode was a total turn around from all the info we had before. Chalk that one up to CBS's editing. "We need a funny hick!"

As far as comparing S3 to S2 & S1, I'd say it is just as good as 2, but both falter to 1.

Now before I go, could someone from Maxim please call Kim P. Danke.

The end of Survivor 3 is here, yet I do not have the same feeling I had at the end of Survivor 2 and certainly not the feeling I had at the end of the original Survivor. It took me too long to find something interesting about these survivors. It took me 6 weeks just to learn all of their names. Despite losing some of its appeal because of redundancy, there were some great twists and great characters. Tom was my favorite survivor and, although I wanted him to win, I am very glad Ethan won. I enjoyed "the switch". It was completely unexpected and certainly, at least initially, changed everyone's game plan.

The most creative aspect of the show was the final tribal council/final vote revelation. I know that I was completely fooled by the seamless transition from tape to live audience. I wish I had taped the show so that I could rewatch that part and try to discover where the switch was made. I have no idea.

To sum up, Survivor 3 was nothing great. Survivor 3 was nothing bad. It was enjoyable to watch and I am anticipating Survivor 4. I only hope that the next installment has a more exciting group of contestants. I am also looking forward to it because Lex will not be in it. (That guy just annoys me.)

Well, after writing a recap of every episode, there's not much I have left to say that hasn't already been said. I enjoyed this version of Survivor, though not as much as the first 2. I'm glad that someone I actually liked and rooted for won the darn thing. I think Ethan was a deserving winner. He played the game really well. I mean, to get through 39 days and not receive one vote is pretty impressive.

That being said, I'm of the opinion that Lex should have won. I mean the guy played the game hard. From the very beginning he took a very visable leadership role in the game. He was obviously the catalyst of the alliance that made up the final 4. For someone to be a strong willed and right in everyone's face like he was and to still not be voted off, is a feat we will likely not see duplicated no matter how many Survivors there are. He did well in the challenges and he held his alliance togther to the very end. If anyone deserved the money, it was Lex. He at least deserved to be in the final 2 against Ethan, in my opinion.

My final shot goes to Kelly. What a whiny bitch she turned out to be. So you got voted off. Big fat hairy deal. Did you deserve to get voted off right then? Probably not. But, deal with it. What could she possibly have had against Ethan and Kim that would make her slam arguably the 2 most likable people in the entire cast. Sounds like a large vat of sour grapes to me. It didn't matter who was in the finals, her plan was to shoot them down because they actually had the nerve to vote her off. Perhaps she was hoping to get the same mileage out of her final comments that Susan got after Survivor 1.

All in all, not the best Survivor, but certainly worth watching and I will be back watching and recapping Survivor 4. So stay tuned. Oh and Alex....the rumors I'm hearing are that Kim's skipping Maxim and heading straight for Playboy.

One thing that Mark Burnett and friends kept from the viewing audience is the kind of medical attention that was provided to the survivors throughout the game. It is my understanding, for instance, that Lindsey had intravenous fluids at some point. Tom had to take antibiotics for that boil. And Lex was very very sick during the latter part of his stay there. He was offered intravenous fluids but declined them and kept the extent of his illness from most of the others.

Had I known this, I probably would have factored that in to my calculations. I thought Lex would win the last immunity challenge and if he had, I think my order (Ethan, Kim, Lex winning) would have happened. At any rate, I was hoping that Ethan would win and I'm glad he did of the final 4. I'm still mad Teresa came in fifth, but I'll get over it.

The final thing that I would like say about S3 is I surprised in retrospect how many mistakes the survivor contestants made. I'm not sure any of them played the game as well as Colby/Tina or Richard, or even Susan (season 1). These folks collectively would have been eaten alive in previous seasons. Lex and perhaps Teresa are probably the only people who could have held their own in a really competitive game.

I'm looking forward to Survivor 4. Beautiful setting, the survivors have to live off the land! How nice.

A satisfying conclusion, all-in-all, but yet another example of creative editing by the producers of a reality show to mislead the TV viewing audience. Having viewed the videos online, I was sorely disappointed by the whole editing experience. Even online, you didn't get the whole story. When Kim made the choice to bring Ethan along to the jury rather than Lex, we all thought she was nuts. But as Kim later explained, Lex wasn't as mean to the other contestants as he was when he talked to the camera. Which means, plainly, that we - the viewers - didn't see the REAL Lex. We see a processed and packaged Lex. And it mislead us to the very end.

But once we got to the jury, we knew who the winner was going to be. No amount of editing was going to hide the goody-two-shoes vibe we all got from Ethan. He was the golden boy, and sure to win the jury vote.

I just want to say how impressive the final bit of editing - the transition from Africa to Los Angeles - was. Very impressive. I just feel bad for Tom and Lex, who chose not to shave before going to the jury. Meaning that, a month before the filming of the live reunion episode, they both got calls from the producers instructing them to being growing their beards again.

I've got a few lingering questions. I'd still like to know what happened to those tomato plants they got (which they were supposed to cultivate into a food source), and what happened to the last of the chickens? Eaten, I suppose. Food wasn't as much of a factor in this Survivor as in past episodes (it isn't fun watching people starve, afterall). A satisfying conclusion to what was only a somewhat entertaining season of Survivor. I'm still hooked, though. And I'm glad that the next season starts in only about 5 weeks.

This last edition of Survivor was probably the weakest of the three, but still a very good show nonetheless. It was entertaining and I still have my love for Survivor. I can't wait until Survivor IV comes along.

I'm glad Ethan won, I have been rooting for him for a long time. Although I initially was glad Lex didn't win it, I still have respect for him. He played the game like no others have before. Winning challenges left and right, he surpassed even Survivor II's Colby in winning. With Kim's comment on how he was inaccurately portrayed by the editing of Burnett I think Lex deserves some kudos sent his way.

There were a lot of memorable moments like the tribe switch and the switch between recorded/live footage during the Finale was a pleasant surprise. The cast of characters were not as entertaining as in previous Survivor series but there were still some standouts this time around. Tom, Lex, Kelly, and Brandon were some of the more entertaining ones and who couldn't love Ethan and Kim?

Overall, the show was fun and I'm excited for Survivor IV.
