Marissa's Last Huzzah ŠABC

Marissa's Last Huzzah ŠABC

Another celeb will bite the dust on Dancing With the Stars tonight, leaving us with the final three. I suspect the Elimination is obvious, but you just never know.

Let's recap the Leaderboard with Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas on top with a 57, while Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are on the bottom with a 52.  The Encore goes to Kristi and Mark with their tango, both of them looking very proper as befits the dance. Kristi remembers not to smile.

Stretching Out the Inevitable

The kidlets are back, although if you remember, there wasn't a whole lot of competition in their original performances. Anything to get you to use your minutes calling in to ABC, I suspect. First up in the 9 and under group are Aaron and Rashell. Apparently, they are private schoolers (That figures. Let's just call them precocious performers.) Pro Kym shows up to coach them, fresh out of Len's limo, no doubt. (You regular watchers, you catch my drift.) They cha-cha to "Please Mr. Postman" and it seems that Rashell has that hip thing going, even though she is pre-pubescent. Len calls it sharp, Bruno precise, and Carrie Ann refers to them as munchkins.

Travis Payne choreographs a Macy's Stars of Dance Performance with Omarion, paying tribute to the pop king MJ and 25 years since his best album, silver glove and crotch grabbing included. The cameras seemed to have missed the moon-walking. I remember buying "Thriller" for my daughter, who at the time was about 8. That was her first album. Okay, now I am dating myself, but the music is just as kewl now as it was then. Michael, where are ye these days? We miss you.

It's Ballroom Kids time again and Jaryd and Cara represent the ten and under set. They get introduced to pro Maks, who gives them some pointers. Dancing the samba to "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)," they are so cute you want them to go out and play. Cara gives Tom an autograph and forgets she is on camera. Carrie Ann wants to put them in her pocket, Len likes them better than the "big ones," and Bruno finds them adorable.

Next are Brandon and Brittany of the 13 and under group. Shown going home, there is lots of screaming pre-teen friends' antics going on. Former Dance pro Ashly turns up for pointers, then they pasa doble to the theme from "Phantom of the Opera." They might as well move on to adult status right now. Bruno says they are incredible, Carrie Ann calls them sophisticated, and Len comments, "these two are the real deal."

Backstage, Sam asks the usual banal questions to the three mini-couples and they reply as though coached. She also informs them that they are all going to Disneyland. I see a commercial in the works, and a working trip for the kids.

Safe: Kristi and Mark, Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska

Not safe: Cristián de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke, Marissa and Tony

Eliminated: Marissa and Tony

We knew it would probably happen eventually before the finals, still I will miss the Tony award winner and was pleased that she make it this far. She is very graceful, and tears up watching the recap of her "journey." Her best comment, "Shake what your mama gave you!"

Not much time for the last dance. It is more like a last group hug to "The Best is Yet to Come." See you and Usher next week at the finale. Until then, Dance fans, we fade to glitter....

Best Samanthism:
"As well everybody should be."
Shameless Network Promotion:
Dana Delaney of Desperate Housewives in the audience.
Best Backstage Adlibbed Exchange: (In response to their high scores)
Jason, "I'm like high octane."
Edyta, "Ewwww."
Best Overall Comment: (Tom, in response to Brandon being told he is going to Disneyland)
"Why do I think Brandon would rather go to Dallas?"
Best Judge's Pervy Comment: (Len, after watching Aaron and Rashell)
"Your little bums flying everywhere."
