A Dose of Reality: Big Brother 11 - August 06: Hiro-Chima Blasts Russell, Ronnie Shown the Door
by R.J. Carter
Published: August 7, 2009
Julie Chen introduces the show by letting us all know that the Coup d'Etat is in play. Did everybody vote? Did everybody vote correctly? We'll see before the night is over. Until then, Ronnie and Lydia remain on the block, facing eviction tonight.
As we see the houseguests gathered for tonight's elimination, Lydia has made up her face with a black bar across her eyes. Lydia is becoming the Chicken George of this season, only edgier. Flashing back, we see Michele use her Power of Veto on nobody, and there's Jordan wearing her "smart glasses." The glasses seem to be working because she can already count to four -- which is the number of votes needed to evict Ronnie from the house.
After the POV ceremony, Lydia mopes in the back yard, which is where Kevin finds her. She tells him he may not want to hang out with her, as she may have the plague. She's hoping that Ronnie will be evicted because of his lies and manipulations, but admits that you never have a guarantee in the Big Brother House.
Paranoia Strikes Deep... Into Your Heart It Will Creep...
Michele lounges outside with Jordan, and they're talking about books. Michele says she has one shelf that's full of nothing but "brain books" -- she's a neurosurgeon, so that's not surprising -- and says she should read more literature, but she doesn't. As she and Jordan chat about books, Russell asks them what they're whispering about. When they tell him, he doesn't believe them (admittedly, would you believe Jordan if she said she was discussing literature with the doctor?) and thinks they're plotting against him. He later corners Jordan, and asks her again -- and she sticks with the same story, telling Russell he's getting paranoid.
Russell's in just the right paranoid state, in fact, for Michele to take advantage of him. In the HOH room, she and Russell talk about Jessie, Natalie, and Chima -- and Michele tells Russell that Chima talked about getting Russell out of the house. She adds that Chima told her not to trust Russell, that he's a liar -- but of course Michele adds that she didn't believe any of that. Russell replies that Chima is jealous and threatened. "She's jealous of every girl that talks to me," he says.
Always one to take the bull by the horns, Russell goes straight to Jessie about Chima's plan to backdoor him. Jessie says that Chima would first have to have the power (oh, a prophet is not without honor, save in his own Head of Household room) before she could put Russell up, and adds that she's never once uttered Russell's name in conversation to him. Russell says that he had heard the information from Michele, and Jessie writes it all off as BS.
Not surprisingly, Jessie tells Natalie later, with Russell hanging out with them in the backyard, and Russell asks Natalie to send Chima up to the HOH room. (Fetch, Natalie! Fetch! Good girl!) Natalie does more than fetch Chima -- she tells her why Russell wants to talk to her, which immediately puts Chima into a bad mood. In the HOH room, they discuss Michele's comments, and Chima says they should bring her in. "Go grab her," Russell says. Hmm, he likes to send girls to go and get for him, it seems.
Michele knows this can't be good, because Chima does not look happy when she fetches her. With all three in the HOH room, Michele responds that Russell's comments are not true, which nearly launches Russell through the Big Brother ceiling. He can't believe it. Neither can I, actually -- Michele is a much better lie-to-your-face person than Ronnie could ever pretend to be. Chima thinks that both Michele and Russell are lying, and a three-way fight erupts. Russell walks out, calling them both "dumbasses," which sends Chima and Michele out after him -- Michele to escape and Chima to attack. Chima and Russell go nose-to-nose, yelling as the rest of the house watches on. "You're the rat!" Chima yells. She goes downstairs alone, exclaiming to the house, "He lies about everybody!" Jordan is clearly enjoying the show, as the fight moves down to the kitchen and patio. If Russell and Chima were any more in each other's face, they'd be kissing. Chima storms off, and Russell tells her she should act her age... which spins Chima back around on another tirade, and half the houseguests have to physically restrain her in the house while the other half shuts the door and keeps Russell outside.
Chima says that backdooring Russell wasn't the plan, but it's definitely the plan now! "It's 'Season of the Rat - Part 2,'" says Michele in the Diary Room. Yes, Michele -- and the rat is a lab rat. Well played, Mrs. Frisby.
Big Brother Interruptus
Ronnie confides to Jessie that he accepts that he's going home. He thinks he has three votes, but he might be able to pull a sympathy vote from Jordan if she thinks that everyone else is voting him out. "She'sa really emotional girl," says Ronnie. "But hatred goes to the bone," Jessie answers.
Unfortunately for Ronnie, his timing stinks. That night, he goes into his bedroom -- the same bedroom where Jeff and Jordan are trying to get romantic. Jeff's kissing her, and it looks like they're planning some more intimate moves. But Ronnie's sighing and whining about going home is a real mood-buster. He even farts under his blanket, loudly. "Ronnie's trying to work on us, and I'm trying to work on Jordan," Jeff says in the Diary Room later. I think Ronnie killed more than his chances with this ploy.
Live Chat With Houseguests
Julie Chen talks with Lydia about her makeup choices, and then asks Jordan about the Russchima meltdown. "It was very entertaining," Jordan says with her usual bubbliness. Michele is then asked about the mood of the house. "Definitely divided -- it's tense tonight," she says. "We're all waiting to see what happens with the eviction." Of course, Julie responds that it's never "not tense" in the house, and Michele replies, "It's never not crazy and neurotic in here."
Live HOH Chat
Alone in the HOH room, Russell is asked about the Chima Explosion. He says emotions got the better of him, and that a lot had been building up that caused everyone to snap at the same time. He says he's apologized to her since then, and admits that it's going to be tricky for him to play the game the next week, especially if Chima were to somehow gain the HOH. Russell then spends a few moments thanking Julie for being so beautiful, a ploy Julie points out won't take him to the finish. Finally, is he loyal to Jeff or Jessie? He says he's loyal to both, and will try not to backstab either one of them but realizes that somewhere down the road he'll have to make a decision.

Coup d'Etat: Jeff |
Mystery Power: Coup d'Etat
The Coup d'Etat power would allow the possessor to change the nominations for eviction, overriding the decision of the HOH.
dumbest, most boring houseguest in the game to possess the power, guaranteeing that the power will not be used this year. He says he'll turn the house upside down, but I have my doubts.
Back to the Live Eviction, Julie announces that the Myster Power has been given out, and that the opportunity to use it is now. Jeff doesn't stand up, so the nominations stand pat. Thanks, Jeff.

Evicted: Ronnie |
Lydia gives the usual "I'm super appreciative, blah blah blah, use your vote wisely," speech. But Ronnie apparently is not prepared to go gently into that good night, choosing to rage against the dying of the light -- and he lights into Michele. "You're the worst human being I've ever had the misfortune of meeting," he says. I guess we can write off her vote.
When the votes come down, the house is split among alliances, but it's not enough for Ronnie, who is evicted with a 4-3 vote. The season just got a whole lot less watchable.
Evictee Chat
In the studio, Julie asks Ronnie about his parting shot at Michele. He responds that she showed she has no loyalty to anyone but herself, and he miscalculated thinking she was in his alliance. Julie counters that the houseguests could say the same thing about him, but he says the difference is that he was ultimately loyal to Jessie, Chima, Natalie and -- ironically -- Russell, where Michele had no loyalty.
Goodbye Messages
Kevin: Teeheehee, Ronnie. You got booted. You got what you deserved.
Jessie: You're an awesome dude.
Russell: it was a strategic move... I didn't know where you stood.
Chima: My vote didn't count, and that really upsets me.
Michele: I hate you. You lied to me... backstabbed me... Get the heck out the door, you dork!
HOH Competition: Say What?

HOH: Chima |
Earlier in the week, Kevin discovers a button in the back yard... which he presses. Immediately, the house is bombarded with messages recorded from America, dispensing advice, singing songs, and basically keeping them up all night.
In tonight's live competition, the houseguests will be quizzed about the announcements with true or false questions. Basically, Julie will say something, and the houseguests must decide if she's quoting one of the announcements or has altered it.
It's a fast competition: With only five questions to be asked, everyone has eliminated themselves except for Chima. Russell has to have a funny feeling in the pit of his stomach as he tries to give Chima her HOH key -- but first he has to peel her off Jessie and Natalie.
Since we have a few minutes left, Julie asks the houseguests some quesions from the audience. Lydia is asked what a tattoo of her Big Brother experience would look like: a gigantic key with an 11 on it, and maybe Kevin's name. Kevin is asked who in the house is most in need of a makeover, and he picks Natalie (from the houseguests still remaining).
With Chima having the safety and power this week, perhaps the show won't be quite as boring as I anticipate it being in Ronnie's absence. I predict she's going to put up Russell and Jordan, using Jordan as a pawn, with Jeff using the Coup d'Etat to replace Jordan with Jessie or Natalie. We'll have to see.
