Television Review: 90210, "To Sext or Not to Sext"

Summer's officially over, and the West Bev High kids are back in class -- although some of them come back to class lacking a certain class of their own.
The main plot of the September 15th episode, "To Sext or Not to Sext," revolves around a certain cellphone image of Annie (Shenae Grimes), au natural and in flagrante delicto (to spread a metaphor geographically). It's only a rumor that the image exists, of course, except to a handful of people: Annie, the boy who took the photo, and the girl who holds the extra copy: Naomi (AnnaLyne McCord, who remains firmly convinced that Annie slept with her boyfriend, Liam (Heroes' Matt Lanter).
Naomi isn't the only one being steered by jealousy, though. Navid (Michael Steger is running The Blaze this year, and uses the opportunity to set up an interview with the new student, tennis star Teddy Montgomery (Trevor Donovan, and turns it into a vicious hit piece all because he knows that Teddy was the guy to whom his girlfriend Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes lost her virginity.
Meanwhile, everyone's favorite obsessive-compulsive, Erin Silver (Jessica Stroup, can't let go of Dixon (Tristan Wilds); he's had enough of her, but she hasn't processed the information yet, hounding him with calls and hoping that her next apology will be the one he accepts.
The real evil in the cast, however, lives in the black heart of Naomi's sister, Jen (Sara Foster). Jen is stringing along Naomi's teacher, Ryan (Ryan Eggold) for reasons that only make sense to a conniving gold-digger. Ah, but Jen is also the person with whom Liam had his ill-conceived revenge sex, the fling that left Naomi convinced that Liam had slept with Annie. And while Naomi waffles about whether or not she ought to send out the "sext message" that would devastate Annie, Jen offers up some sisterly advice. Now, what do you think Naomi would do after that?
Annie's potential exposure is the least of her problems however; there's still the matter of a certain hit-and-run accident the summer before that continues to haunt her. And she's the sympathetic "good girl" of the show! The OMG candy jar is always full on this teen soap.
