It was a quiet Saturday afternoon that October 10th. The O'Fallon Public Library had officially closed its doors. But inside, a determined group of teenagers was engaged in a game of life or death.

Okay, it wasn't as dire as it sounds. These kids were competing in a scavenger hunt to get their hands on signed copies of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games and the recently released sequel, Catching Fire. Dividing into teams, the seekers had to answer questions about how to best handle a worst-case scenario, with each possible answer leading to a different book on the library shelves. Finding the correct book would yield the next clue in the search -- along with a possible video project which would require them to capture photographs of hidden objects within the library.

Ultimately, the teams would meet up and begin putting their answers and printed photos into a journal for judging by the library staff. When the dust settled, two pairs had each landed themselves a signed Hunger Games as well as a copy of Catching Fire, with Ellie Porath and Cameron Morgan taking the first place honors, closely followed by the team of Courtney Clear and Kelsie Adams.

The Hunger Games is a series set in a future North America where a corrupt capital demands an annual tribute from each of the twelve districts of two teenagers who then compete in a survival-driven struggle to the death for the entertainment of the masses.
