Wil Wheaton Guests on Eureka; Stan Lee Cameos
Television Review: Eureka, "Glimpse"

Published: July 25, 2011
With the San Diego Comic Con fresh on everyone's mind, I'll jump straight to the Geeky Fan Boy moment if this week's episode of Eureka: Stan Lee Cameo!
Actually, that's just one GFB moment, as "Glimpse" also features a rather meaty guest appearance for Wil Wheaton, who plays a combative doctor competing with everyone else in town (including Stan Lee) for a place on the newly funded FTL flight to Titan. Yes, the FTL drive seen in the past few episodes is going to serve as the propulsion unit for the first manned flight beyond the moon! Seating is limited, so to get your experiment onto another planet, the whole town finds itself going through American Idol-like auditions -- with Dr. Holly Marten (Felicia Day) and Doug Fargo (Neil Grayston) playing the parts of Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.
Fargo has an edge, however, in weeding out candidates: he's helped himself to the latest tool of Eureka law enforcement: the predictive analysis lenses, or PALs. They're contact lenses that make probability estimates based on visual input, alerting the wearers to the odds of catastrophe. With Jo (Erica Cerra) and Jack (Colin Ferguson) already outfitted, the mainframe doing the analysis is already taxed. ANd Jack and Jo are in a race against time, as the PALs have just delivered a future vision of Eureka in flames, just as the PALs short out before they can report the probable source of the disaster.
"Glimpse" also moves the Allison subplot forward in an ominous way, as Jack is certain Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) wants in on the Titan mission and volunteers to help make her dream possible any way he can.
It's edge of your seat tension, sly humor, and unexpected romantic advances tonight. Have the popcorn ready in advance.
Eureka, "Glimpse," airs Monday, July 25, 8PM ET/PT on Syfy.
