The S-Ratings: Survivor: Thailand - Episode 3
by The Trades Staff Published: September 30, 2002
The S-Ratings are back for their fourth season at The Trades! Once again, we have assembled our panel of staff members and invited guests to make their predictions on who will be voted off of Survivor in the upcoming week. This season, we have added a third prediction: who will win immunity. Each of our panelists will choose one person from each tribe whom they feel will be voted off should they reach tribal council and which tribe they believe will be victorious in the immunity challenge.
In addition to our regular panel, you can win the chance to participate in the S-Ratings. Like last season, we are running our guest contest on Yahoo's Survivor Pick'em. All you have to do is sign-up and play each week! For instructions on how to sign-up and the rules for the contest, click here. I am pretty confident Sook Jai will stay immune, so Jed will be safe for now. But unless he decides to chill and be friendly, his neck is on the block.
With only a glimmer of next week's show, I feel comfortable betting on Ted, but not safe. While I think he is a great player, the issues that will be revealed this week could take him down. And while I'd rather see Ghandia get voted out -- I think she will have the upper hand in this situation, because she is a woman.
Sook Jai will retain the immunity idol once again. Unless Robb accidentally drowns in a swimming competition, they should continue their streak.
Jed is making himself extremely public and definitely a stand-out from the group. By not doing what the rest of the tribe is doing (whether he thinks it is important or not) is not a good strategy. He is coming off as extemely lazy and the tribe does not think he is going along with their strategy. Sook Jai wants a shelter and Jed does not. Jed needs to start playing with the tribe or he is gone.
Jan is just too incapable of strength. I think we saw from her trip to get water that she is not good for the tribe. She definitely slows them down and cannot compete against the younger people. If the tribe is going to turn things around, they need to get rid of her quickly.
Sook Jai is too strong. I think this will be another physical challenge since most of the early ones are and Sook Jai is dominate. They have nothing but strong players and Chuay Gahn is slowed by incapable members. Sook Jai's winning streak will continue.
What can I not say about Sook Jai? They are sick, tired, not having fun?! What is this world coming to? First off, I like Shii-Ann...she has guts and is smart. Unfortunately her spat with Robb will probably seal her fate before the merge. Jed is not 'meshing' well with the tribe, and NEEDS to start making more friends that just Stephanie, who not by coincidence, will probably be the next person voted out. WHY THE HELL DO YOU SLEEP OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM WHEN YOU ARE ALREADY FEELING SICK? Do you deliberately want to be voted out? Anyway, she should have been voted out Thursday, and her ticket home might be closer than she thinks. Bad move Jake in picking this dope.
I really like the Chuay Gahn tribe...for now. The previews of the next episode, however, leave me with fears about them. But I still feel the final 4 will probably come from this tribe. I love Helen. She's hilarious and smart. Jan and Clay are sweet, but need to make alliances with people, because they are weak. I think I could see a five person alliance coming on in the near future between Clay, Ted, Helen, Jan, and Brian the porno star. Speaking of Brian, I feel he is playing the game the best, with Helen a close second. Ghandia, Ghandia, Ghandia. Oh boy. If you make it three more days you will be soooo lucky. But I think your team will win immunity...let's just hope you can actually finish a challenge with as good momentum as you have starting it.
Overall, Robb, Stephanie, and Ghandia need to go in my mind. Truthfully, I can't see Chuay gone losing a third time. So, with all that said, Stephanie...your chariot awaits to bring you to Loser Lodge to have a stogie...Congrats! You now live among the Stacys, Mad Dogs, Carls, and Hunters of the world!
"Erin?" you say. I say, "Why not?" I'm tired of going with the logical choice and being wrong all the time. So, I'm gonna say that should Sook Jai take the march to Tribal Council (which I doubt) Erin will have done something to stick out. Stephanie, though boneheaded and sick, still performed well in the swimming challenge. And Jed did to legs and, in my opinion, single handedly won the challenge for them. I think they're safe for now.
Jan has got to go. She's a nice lady and a remarkably strong swimmer. But she's dragging the team down. Seeing them vote out Tanya for being sick signals to me that they've figured it out. They realize they need all the stronger members to compete. And while Helen and Ghandia might be a little annoying, they are considerably stronger than Jan. She seems like a great ole girl, but her time has come.
Sook Jai is simply stronger and faster. The challenges thus far have relied on a lot of physical strength, and from what we've seen in the preview, at least one of the next challenges is a very physical head to head competition. And as I've said before, the long trek for water will continue to take the energy away from Chuay Gahn. Sadly, it looks like MB will have to pull out the "equalizer" challenge soon.
Stephanie has come out of nowhere to become Sook Jai's lone wolf. Jed may have rubbed Robb the wrong way at first but now that the shelter's done, things will likely settle down between these two. Stephanie, though, continues to isolate herself and sleeping out in the rain the night they finished building the shelter was a pigheaded move that put the tribe in danger of losing a challenged. Shes' in trouble.
Ghandia's not making any friends with her constant need to find fault in others. She's a complainer. She's high on the list of people to get voted off the island. She's just survived so far because other people were on the list before her. Helen may rub some people the wrong way, as well, but Helen is the team's anchor. She strong and she's a true survivor.
Chuay Gahn is likely to take their third trip to Tribal Council in a row. Despite being outmatched in strength, Chuay Gahn has continued to compete at each and every challenge. They have no reason to look so depressed when they lose, since they always try very hard and come in a very close second (although, as mentioned on the show, second place counts for nothing in this game). Manipulation by producer Mark Burnett is likely to tilt the odds in favor of Chuay Gahn soon, but not yet.
Robb seems to be the overly agressive hot head who will be the first to get voted out of his tribe if they ever lose immunity. While I don't think it'll happen this week, eventually, Sook Jai will loose an immunity challenge, and they will oust the punk.
While Clay didn't get the boot last week, Jan has made quite a case for herself being the weakest of the tribe, mainly because she's the oldest. Getting tired paddling, and floating in the water while Helen retrieved their water supply was not a good way to prove yourself. Although she seems to have showed a bit of stamina in some of the physical challenges so far, I believe her time is coming rather quickly.
As for the immunity challenge, Sook Jai is just too strong of a tribe to loose to the older (and weaker) Chuay Guan tribe. While the commercials usually don't give us too many clues about who is to be voted off, if the physical brutality of the teasers pay off, look for Sook Jai to be holding the idol once again.
Stephanie has singled herself out. Sleeping in the rain while everyone slept in the shelter was a bad move not only because it isolated her from the group, but it made her sick. A detached, sick person is one who will be voted off quickly.
Jan's weak and that's what is important right now. Chuay Gahn realized this when they kept Helen and lost Tanya. They need the stronger members of their tribe there and the weak ones out. This means Jan.
Chuay Gahn wins immunity this week. There was that physical one-on-one preview but I think that'll be for the reward challenge. And then, for immunity we'll finally have one that's not just testing strength. A mental game or perhaps one of endurance or dexterity (Or maybe even the gross food one). Whatever kind it may be, I have a feeling it wont be mega-physical and Chuay Gahn will take advantage of the oppurtunity and avoid Tribal Council.
