Hello good people and welcome to the final Lost and Delirious of the Survivor: Amazon season. It's been the most entertaining season since Rich Hatch dropped trou and won the first Survivor million. The only thing I can hope for is a fulfilling conclusion. And by fulfilling, I mean, a fun finale. A decent final tribal council....maybe an explosion or two during the jury question period. And most important of all, a deserving winner. In the 5 previous Survivors, I figure 3 winners have deserved it. Rich, Ethan (Africa) and Brian (Thailand). Tina (Australia) won only because Colby was an idiot. And Vecepia (Marquesas)...well to this day I still have no frickin idea how she won. In my estimation, of the final 4, there are 2 people that deserve to win. Rob, because he has single handedly saved this franchise (in my opinion) and Matt because he's shown quite a combination of athleticism and strategy. As nice a guy as he is, Butch does not deserve to win. He's left because he's never been a threat and he's been content to just lay low and have everyone skip over him. Jenna does not deserve to win....well, let me count the ways. Actually, I don't have the time or space for all of the reasons why she doesn't deserve to win. Before I get to the meat of the recap, just a quick note that the opening paragraph was, in fact, written prior to the show.

THE FINAL FOUR CELEBRATE

We join the tribe right after voting off Heidi. It's raining and miserable, so getting the fire started again is a little tough. However, the excitement of making the final 4 seems to make all of the bad things disappear. Jenna tells us that she feels great being the last woman in the game and she tells the guys that she is satisfied with her showing. She knows that barring an immunity challenge win (which, let's face it, with the streak Matt's on, doesn’t seem to likely) she's the next to go and she genuinely seems ok with that. Matt lets us know that the plan is to dump Jenna next and the final immunity challenge will be every man for himself.

The next morning, Matt is up destroying the old, mostly burnt shelter. The plan is to chop a boatload of wood this morning, and then be done with wood duty for the last 2 days. Kind of a "finish everything now and enjoy the last little bit of time in The Amazon." Somehow, Matt talks Butch into doing another one of his, dare I say, sexy dances. At the same time, Rob begins talking about how he thinks Butch may have lost it out there. He also mentions that Matt thinks Butch may have gone off the deep end. And, as Rob said, "If Matt is saying you're crazy....you are out of your frickin mind." Jenna acknowledges again that she is next to go, but says that won't stop her from giving 110% in the immunity challenge.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE # 13

So, the survivors fight the rain and mud and finally make it to the first challenge of the show. This one is a new twist on the ole "Maze challenge" they seem to have every season. This time, the maze is divided up into 4 sections. The sections represent the 4 elements, Earth, wind, fire and water (and no...Milla Jovovich does not make an appearance, but thanks for asking.) In each of the 4 sections of the maze are necklaces. The person that gets all 4 necklaces and makes it to the center of the maze will win immunity. By the way, did I mention everyone would be blindfolded? The only things to guide them will be podiums with ridged pictures and arrows telling them which direction to go to get to each of the 4 elements and the center section. This should be fun.

And they're off. Jenna takes off like someone lit her butt on fire. Course, in her situation, I probably would have too. Nevertheless, Matt strikes first. He's followed by Jenna and then Rob getting their first feathers. Rob really makes a leap by being the first person with 2 feathers. Matt and Jenna are right on his tail though. Poor Butch hasn't been able to find anything other then Jenna's chest as they accidentally ran into each other. And this was right on the heels of Matthew copping a feel. Apparently, the "feel" must have worked for Matt because he was the first one to score the 3rd feather. Jenna's right behind him picking up her 3rd feather. And finally, Butch pulls feather #1. And in what seems like no time at all, Jenna finds feather # 4 and makes it back to the center of the maze to win immunity and completely screw up the guys' plans.

JENNA BECOMES EVERYONE'S BEST FRIEND

And back at camp, it's not too much of a secret that Jenna's vote is a vote you want on your side. She's feeling pretty good right now, and why shouldn't she? Rob's incredibly nervous, yet it's Butch that makes the first move. He figures Rob and Matt will get together and vote for him, so he asks Jenna if she'd consider voting with him to get rid of one of the other guys. In the meantime, Rob and Matt have been doing the math (math is hard) and figure that their best option is to, in fact, vote together and vote for Butch. Back with Butch and Jenna, Jenna asks Butch who he wants to vote for. He volleys the question right back into her court, and not surprisingly she says he wants to vote out Rob because "he screwed me." They make their deal and Butch is very excited. So excited, in fact, I half expected to see his happy dance again. We go back to Rob and Matt and Rob is just beside himself with nervousness. Matt knows that Rob is at his mercy right now. He knows full well that he can cut the cord on Rob at any time. The question is, will he?

So, Matt and Rob go back to camp and Matt approaches Jenna. He brings it to her by saying he thinks she should vote for the person least deserving of being in the final 3. They both come to the same conclusion...Butch is the least deserving. Even though she's mad at Rob and he stabbed her in the back, he's still played a great game. And here's the interesting twist. Matt then makes a pact with Jenna that if she votes butch this time around, he will take her to the final 2 should he win immunity. Jenna agrees to this little last second mini-alliance of 2. So, she'll vote Butch and if either of them wins immunity, they'll take the other. Now the final question is, will either of them hold up their end of the bargain?

TRIBAL COUNCIL # 13

So, we get to the first of 3 Tribal Councils and Jeff starts off by asking Butch how it feels to have made it 37 days. Butch says it feels wonderful and is way more than he ever thought he would do. Jeff then asks the guys how they got there. Butch says he didn't get loud or cut anyone down. He worked hard and didn't really do anything to stand out. Matt said it was all a multifaceted strategy and by maintaining his honesty and integrity. Rob said he's been fortunate. He zigged when he was supposed to zig and zagged when he was supposed to zag, but mostly he was just lucky. Jeff then turns to Jenna and asks her what it's like to have been ready to quit one day and sitting with immunity to the final 3 the next. She said it's been weird. Really high highs and really low lows. But she knew that she needed immunity to stay in the game. He then asks Rob the stupid question, how important was immunity? Considering it guarantees you a spot in the final immunity challenge, it's pretty damn important. Back to Jenna, did all the guys approach you about your vote and how does that feel? She said it feels very strange to have control now after several days of having no control over anything. Butch, how are you basing your vote? He said he's voting based on strategy and he assured everyone that he was hustling to stay in the game. Last question was for Rob, what did you do to try to get Jenna's vote? He said he made her lunch, told her how beautiful she was...but then he says what I believe to be true, there's not much you can do AFTER someone wins immunity to sway them. It's what you did before they had that power that matters.

We see 2 votes this time around. Rob votes for Butch saying there's not enough firewood in the forest to keep his torch lit this time, nice game. And we see Butch vote for Rob saying that he wished him the best and that he's a good kid. When the votes are tallied, we find that both Jenna and Matt stuck with Rob, making Butch the 13th person voted out of the Amazon.

MOTHS, WEIGHT LOSS AND DECORATED HEADDRESSES

When we get back to camp after booting Butch, apparently the rains had finally let up but were replaced by "kamikaze moths" as Rob puts it. They've been there 37 days and seen nary a moth, now all of a sudden it's like a swarm of moths has taken over the camp. The next morning, the group heads out to check out the tree mail, and they find this poem:

It's not a challenge, just fun to do.
So step on up, see what's left of you.

When they remove the poem, it's covering up a scale. Sweet! I'm always fascinated to see how much weight people lose during this game. Perhaps I'm just weird, but I find it interesting. Writer's aside: I generally don't print out the cheesy poems from the tree mails. But in this case, because of the line "see what's left of you", I have to bring it up. As they're walking back to camp, Jenna says that when they were reading that, she looked to her left to see what was there. Um...in a word...DUH!!!!!! Like the Blair Witch is hanging out in the Amazon....to Jenna's left, waiting to unleash a surprise. I wanted to smack my TV. However, Rob made it all better by asking her if she turned around every time someone says, "That's right." Heee! Before we get to the weigh-ins, I'd like to remind everyone out there that math is hard. Ok, so they get back to camp and the scale is in kilos. Of course, they're all used to pounds. So, we have the fun of watching the smoke come out of their ears as they do the conversions. When all is said and done, Matt dropped about 28 pounds, Rob about 32 pounds and Jenna dropped 19 pounds and came in right under the century mark.

Shortly after the weigh-in, Jeff shows up at camp, which is generally reserved for the final 3. He tells them that since they've been there 38 days and seen a decent amount of the Amazon, they've arranged for them to get a different view. They're going to take a sea-plane ride over the area they've been living in for all this time. When that is complete, they will be dropped off at a canoe. They are to use the map that Jeff has just given them to navigate to a hut. In the hut are 3 tribal headdresses. They are to decorate themselves and their headdresses with the provided beads, paints, feathers and other materials. When that is complete, they will get back in the canoe and head off to Tribal Council. Writer's aside: Quickie note here. They're heading to Tribal Council? Um, what about the last immunity challenge? Will they do that at TC? Will it still be the "challenge of wills?" Will they invite the jury in to watch? So many questions.

Well, there was very little to mention on the sea-plane. The threesome seemed to enjoy it and they all made sure to take in as much as possible with their last real look at the Amazon. They got to the hut and did the typical face painting and body decorating that goes along with all of these shows. I couldn't help but think, as they paddled away with beads, face paint and feathers all over the place, that any native Amazon might have soiled themselves laughing at these three. As they travel, we hear Rob tell us that he's determined to win this challenge. We hear Matt say that he's contemplating throwing the immunity challenge, because he doesn't want to stab either Rob or Jenna in the back. He figures the way to keep their jury vote is to NOT be the one to kick them off. Jenna then tells us that she's worked too hard to give up now. Writer's aside: Pardon me? Did I just hear what I hear what I think I heard? Did I actually hear Princess say that she worked too hard to give up? Ahem...what the hell did she do in 38 days that even by the loosest of standards could be considered work? Well, I mean, besides having to put up with looking at all those old, ugly fat people for the first half of the show. Cause Lord knows, that ain't easy. On any other season of Survivor, they'd have kicked her ass off so fast she would have been eating peanut butter and chocolate in losers lounge before the tribal switch. She lay around all day. She didn't help with shelter, wood, water or food. And when she was no longer in the strong alliance, she got even worse about not getting off her lazy ass. She whined and cried more than any Survivor in the history of the game (ok, maybe not more than Granny Janny in Thailand.) I'd love to know what the weather's like where she's from, cause she obviously ain't from this world. She goes on further to say that she doesn't know who would be the better person to take with her should she win immunity. Rob has screwed a lot of people, but they may see that as playing the game well. Hmmmmm, it's hard to make such decisions when for 38 days one hasn't been able to stop thinking about oneself.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE # 14

And here it is, the most important immunity challenge of the game. And before they get to it, Probst brings in the jury. Uh oh, could it be the dreaded "Fallen Comrades" challenge? Will they be tested on other survivorsÂ’ trivia? Sadly, no. It does turn out to be the traditional test of wills. Each person will stand on a narrow wooden perch. They will have to hold their headdress above their head. If the headdress touches their head, they're out. If they touch the ground, they're out. Last one standing wins immunity and the right to choose who they bring with them into the final 2. So, they take their places and literally 1 minute or 2 in, Matt wobbles and falls off. Writer's aside: You've got to be frickin kidding me!!!! This guy has been dominating everything and then he bags a challenge and makes it THIS obvious?!?!? I don't think there was one person watching that thought he really lost his balance. He threw the challenge and it was the most blatantly obvious thing I've seen in a while. If I'm Rob, what that says to me is that Matt and Jenna have a deal, and I'm now on my own. And you can tell by the look in his eye that he knows he has to win this challenge to stay in the game. I was just amazed by Matt's arrogance that he didn't even hang in there for a while and then bow out. With Matt dropping out, Rob waits a few minutes and tries to make a deal. "Step down and I'll take you," he says to Jenna. She comes back with something about just fighting it out. Personally, I'd have tried to make the deal a second time. "Take me, and I'll step down and we can end this." But, alas... Jeff asks Matt if he's surprised to see Rob try to make a deal. Matt says not at all and that he would probably have done the same thing. So after several more minutes, Rob finally loses his balance and drops off the perch, leaving Jenna as the first member of the final 2.

TRIBAL COUNCIL # 14

With Jenna wearing the immunity necklace, we go straight into Tribal Council mode. Jeff says that he KNOWS how Jenna's feeling right now, but wants to know how Rob's feeling. Rob says that he did the best he could and she beat him. There's nothing he can do now except wait. He then moves to Matt and asks him if he thinks dropping out so soon will hurt him. Matt confesses that it might, but that he was simply exhausted and did the best he could. But he feels confident Jenna will make the right decision. Jeff then asks Jenna what she will base her vote on. She says that she will vote for the person that worked hard and that she thinks deserves it the most (Lie). She goes on to say that she really meant her comment about wanting the toughest competition in the final 2 with her (Lie). She doesn't want to go against someone she can beat (Lie), she wants it to be a better competition (Lie) so she can feel like she really accomplished something (Lie).

And with that, Jenna casts her vote. We don't hear what she has to say as she votes. Jeff tallies the vote and the 14th person voted out of the tribe is Rob. Writer's aside: You may be wondering why I would essentially call Jenna a liar all through that last paragraph, yes? Well, she said she wanted competition in the final 2, and didn't want to go against someone she could beat and she wanted someone who deserved it. Well, she would have lost to Rob. Hands down. Rob deserved it more than any other person on this show. Hands down. And to make it even worse, check out what she said as she voted for Rob. "I'm voting for you Rob, because you dropped out of our alliance at the very beginning and I can never forget that, and I can't let you get this far after you did that to me. I think you played the game better than anyone else here, but you still dogged me." (Thanks to CindiLou at MSN for the link to Markopolo's recap of the Yahoo Platinum material for the finale, posted at www.survivorblows.com.) Ok, let's break that down shall we? She voted for Rob because he dropped out of her alliance. Wait a minute, I thought she voted for Rob because he would be too easy to beat? She thinks he played the game better than anyone else. Wait a minute, I thought she voted for Rob because he didn't deserve to be there. Basically, she took her revenge on Rob at this juncture. Which, by itself is fine. Vote however you want, I won't begrudge you that. But for crying out loud, have the guts to stand up and admit what you're doing. I only mention the lying parts because morality and integrity become such a vital issue at the final Tribal Council.

REMEMBERING FALLEN COMRADES

We begin day 39 with Matt making the last tic on the calendar tree to indicate the final day of Survivor. He and Jenna both sign their names on the tree. Matt tells us that even though it's been rough, he's feeling kind of sad that it's over. The two of them decide to paint everyone's name on their supply box in the order they were voted off. Writer's aside: I'm sure CBS was thrilled to see this. It enabled them to do their final montage of all 16 Survivors without having to arrange it themselves. Very nice, indeed. I found this to be very interesting, and also very telling into the way each person played this game. As they went through Ryan, Dan and Roger, Matt had something nice to say about all 3 of them. As they went through Janet, Joanna and Jeanne...Jenna has very little say about any of them. She said something nice about Janet, nothing about Joanna and said that Jeanne worked hard. We then get to Shawna and Deena, and Jenna had nicer things to say about them. Meanwhile Matt had nothing but nice things to say about Dave, Alex and Butch. Many compliments flew for Heidi and Rob, as expected. The one that intrigued me the most, was Christy. Much has been said about the way Heidi and Jenna treated Christy, and I think nothing summed it up better than the way this exchange went. When Matt says Christy's name, Jenna says nothing at all, and then Matt goes on about how Christy was the most independent minded person in the tribe. And as he's saying this, you hear Jenna cut him off by saying, "Nah, I..." and then the clip moved on to the next person. It was quite obvious to me that Jenna didn't agree with Matt and told him so right there. However, the first time through, you'd have never caught it. All I could think was, "Typical."

Matt then tells us how happy he is that the strategy portion of the game is over. He learned so much as the game progressed, considering he knew nothing when he started off. Jenna is talking about being the youngest Survivor and how it feels to be so young and still in the game. She also goes on again about how hard she worked to get where she is. Back to Matt, he admits to us that he threw the last immunity challenge. He felt confident enough that whoever won would have taken him that he was comfortable enough to just step down. He also says one thing he learned from the game is to stop being so intense and to slow down and enjoy things a little more. Jenna tells us how she learned so much about never underestimating people. And I immediately thought perhaps she had a breakthrough. Then she goes on to say that it doesn't matter how small you are or how young you are, you can accomplish anything. Writer's aside: Silly me, I though maybe she learned not to underestimate deaf people, or older people, or fatter people. Nope...essentially what she was saying was that people shouldn't underestimate her. And frankly, I'd respect her more if she'd just say that and stop dancing around what she's trying to say.

The last thing they do before leaving is fill the old boat with wood and the tree mail guy and light the thing on fire and send it off into the river. This was pretty much uneventful except for the fact that Matt damn near blew himself up lighting the kerosene. They played it in slow-motion and Matt was just engulfed in a huge fireball. Actually, it looked really cool. After this, the paddle to the final Tribal Council begins. As they make their way, we are treated to comments from each of the 7 jury members. We start with:

Rob: He says that the game began as a battle of the sexes and so it shall end as it began. He feels both players were dishonest, though they both claim not to be and he wishes there was a choice C on his voting ballot.
Christy: She says that Jenna is very strong as she lasted longer than her. She says that Matt is sincere and generous and that everyone likes him.
Alex: He says all he's looking for at TC is the one who has the guts to give an honest response to his question. He says he wants someone that says basically, "Yeah, I played the game. Yeah I lied and was deceptive. If you don't like it, you should've played better."
Heidi: Jenna is her hero. She will be voting for Jenna and then she throws out there that Matt is claiming the moral high ground, but that it's just not working for him. Yeah, Heidi, it works real well for your "hero" to, doesn't it?
Butch: To Butch, this is all very simple. Matt was a hard worker. He did a ton of stuff around camp for everyone else. And he is more deserving of the money and title.
Deena: Matt was the work horse and Jenna was the sex goddess. She also says that both of them used these traits to get them where they are.
Dave: He feels that both players were pulled along by others and that neither of them deserve to win. So, he will vote based on the answer to his question.

TRIBAL COUNCIL #15

So, we get to Tribal Council and Jeff goes into the explanation of how the final TC works. Each player will get to make and opening and closing statement. In between, the jury will take over by either making comments or asking questions. Are y'all ready? I've been typing for so darn long, I KNOW I'm read.

Opening Statements (Jim's grade)

Jenna: Jenna feels that the jury knows how she played the game and that they know enough about her to enable them to make an educated vote. She also throws out there how she played the game in accordance with her morals and that's all she could hope for. According to her morals, eh? I guess that would explain the whole voting off Rob instead of Matt thing, eh? I just can't stand the hypocrites, and this show is frickin full of them. (Jim's grade: D)
Matt: Matt does what any Richard Hatch wanna-be would do. He reminds the jury that he provided for them. He was dedicated to them and was a strong competitor. He also goes on about playing the game with morality and integrity. (Jim's grade: C+)

Jury Questions

Butch: Butch first off offers congratulations. Then asks both the same question. He keeps hearing the terms honesty and integrity thrown out there, have they not lied and not been deceitful?

Jenna: Yes, she lied. To Deena right before she was voted out. (Jim's grade: F...she lied to more people than that, including the guy asking the question.)
Matt: Yes, he lied. To Roger before he got tossed and to Alex to save his own butt. (Jim's grade: D...he lied more than that, but at least not to Butch.)

Rob: Rob also asks both players the same question. Why does the person sitting next to you NOT deserve to be in the final 2?

Matt: Jenna didn't contribute at camp. She gathered no wood, boiled no water, caught no fish and didn't help build the shelter. And, just a couple days ago, she was begging to be voted off. (Jim's grade: A...perfect)
Jenna: She feels Matt didn't play the game. He just tagged along (on Rob's coattails, as it were) and he doesn't deserve to win. This would have gotten a good grade from me until she played the "he doesn't need the money" card. (Jim's grade: C...bad form)

Alex: First Alex lets us all know that he never wants to hear the words honesty and integrity again. They no longer have meaning to him. His question is for both players, what is their biggest regret during the game, and why?

Jenna: She says simply that she regrets putting a lot of trust in people she shouldn't have trusted and she wished she could change that. (Jim's grade: A+...I don't know that she could have answered this question better, according to what Alex was looking for. Her answer alluded to the fact that she trusted Rob, hence getting Alex kicked off...plus in a round about way, it said that she had no regrets for the way she played the game...exactly what he wanted to hear.)
Matt: He said he wished he hadn't been so naive and formed such a bond with Ryan and Dan at the beginning as it helped cause a couple weeks of depression for him. (Jim's grade: D-...I'm sure he could have had a worse response to the question, but right now, I'm not sure what it could have been.)

Heidi: She also offers congratulations and then asks them both the same question. Who deserves to be in the final 2 instead of you? (Um....why is she even asking a question? We know who she's voting for. It's a slam dunk. So why waste our time?)

Matt: Rob. He proved to be an amazing strategist and without Rob's tutelage, he'd have never made it this far. He also states that had he won the challenge, he would have brought Rob with him. (Jim's grade: B...he gave the only possible answer, but his little lie at the end about bringing Rob with him...Rob knows full well that Matt threw the challenge...in essence NOT bringing Rob with him.)
Jenna: She says she'd have to echo Matt's thoughts. Rob played hard and deserved to be in the final 2. (Jim's grade: A...by acknowledging Rob in front of the group, she may have just swung his vote her way. And at what cost? She knows she's got Heidi's vote, so why not answer Rob?)
After they answer, Heidi tries to ask the question again. Like there's no one else who deserved it? Jenna and Matt look over at Jeff, Rob buries his face in his hand and Jeff tells Heidi they've answered her question and we'll move on.

Deena: She has a separate question for each player. For Jenna, she asks Jenna about the "he doesn't need the money" comment. She asks Jenna, is that how we're supposed to vote, based on need?

Jenna: She said she feels it should be part of it, because if she were on the jury, she would use that as a factor in her decision. (Jim's grade: B+...not the answer Deena was probably looking for, but Jenna was brutally honest here and that will be appreciated later.)
Deena's question for Matt revolves around his comment at TC several days ago. He mentioned something about the final 3 (Rob, Butch and Matt) being every man for themselves. She says she was offended for Jenna, and wants to know what he meant by that.
Matt: First he said that he didn't remember saying it. Then he said he didn't mean it and he's not a chauvinist. THEN, he finally gets to the truth that he may have gotten too cocky with his male alliance. (Jim's grade: D-...I'm sure he could have done worse, but not much. He could have turned her vote had he just said, "We had an alliance and the plan was to be the final 3. So, yeah I said it and I meant it. If not for Jenna screwing everything up by winning immunity, it's exactly how it would have turned out."

Christy: Christy also had separate questions for each player. For Matt, she wanted to know what his reaction was when he learned he was playing with a deaf person.

Matt: He said he really had no reaction. He planned on treating her the way he would treat anyone else. He did say that he thought she had a funky accent. (Jim's grade: B...this was an honest answer, I believe. The question is, did she think it was an honest answer?)
Christy's question for Jenna revolves around the TC when Jenna said she was handicapped by being beautiful. She wanted Jenna to explain that a little more.
Jenna: She said she had no intention of comparing it to Christy and she apologized that it came off that way. She elaborated by saying that being 21, attractive and officially a swimsuit model, that people automatically think she's not tough, not smart and can be easily led by others. And that's what she meant as a handicap. (Jim's grade: A...she explained her comment to Christy, in a way I'm sure Christy understood. She apologized and was honest with her answer.)

Dave: Dave has the same question for both players. What modern influential leader have you emulated during this game and what qualities of that person do you possess? (What?!?!? Dave we got it...you're a bright guy, but this question was pretty ridiculous.)

Matt: He said he most emulated Colin Powel and it's all about the versatility. (Jim's grade: n/a...I have no idea how to grade this question and answer.)
Jenna: She says that it's a good question, but she doesn't keep up with current events and the person she tried to emulate out there is her mom. She feels that it's better to emulate real people and not a person she sees on TV. (Jim's grade: B+ This was such a BS question, there was no right or wrong answer, and I was glad to see her answer truthfully.

Last Shots

Matt: Matt completely backtracked on all his comments of honesty and integrity. He said he learned how dishonest he had become and that he truly doesn't have the integrity and morality that he claimed to have. (Jim's grade: F....this could cost him the game. Don't patronize the jury. Don't be a big sissy who backs down from what he believes.)
Jenna: She didn't have much left to say. She said that she wasn't the strongest out there but she put in her work and by determination alone she really came through with immunity challenge wins when she desperately needed them. (Jim's grade: B...she kept it short and sweet.)

And with that, it's time to vote. We see 2 votes, and hear the speech on a third. We start out with Butch. He votes for Matt saying that he is the true Survivor and that he appreciated the honesty in the jury portion. We then see Heidi's vote for Jenna saying that she adores Jenna and could always trust her. The one we hear is Rob saying that you showed you had the will and determination to get to the final 2 and he gives credit where credit is due. There were only 2 people he didn't have a hand in voting out.

So, Jeff goes and gets the votes and does his typical "we'll see these live in New York blah, blah, blah. Except this time, he gets on a jet ski and takes off. We're then treated to some film of him "jet skiing" all the way to New York from The Amazon. He stops at the Statue of Liberty and everyone cheered. He finally docks, and takes the subway over to the Ed Sullivan theater, the home of The Late Show with David Letterman. He walks on in with the votes in hand. So once he finally tallies the votes, it's a landslide vote. 6-1 as a matter of fact and the winner of $1mil, a new Saturn Ion and the title of "Sole Survivor: The Amazon" is Jenna Morasca.

Jim's Predictions

Ok, so the final 2 were picked to be gone long before the merge in my preseason predictions. Last week, I did predict that Butch and then Rob would go. But I don't think anyone could have predicted Jenna to win this whole thing. And right now, I'm going to say something that will likely make me not popular. Based on the Jury Session of the final tribal Council...Jenna deserved to win. That's why I listed my grade by each of their responses. To show that Jenna handled the questions, answers and people better. She seemed honest with everything she said. Matt seemed like he was saying what he thought they wanted to hear. Matt's opening statement and closing statement were simply terrible. He lost Rob, Christy and Deena in the last Tribal Council. More than that, I think Jenna gained those votes. Now, Jenna did NOT deserve to win Survivor: The Amazon. This is a fact. Rob did. Period. This is not up for discussion, this is the truth. but, with the choices we had and the answers they gave to the questions that were asked, Jenna deserved to beat Matt out for this title.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Well, what would the last column of the season be without the last QotW? And I actually dove into the Reunion Show to get the Quote of the Week. And who else besides Rob should have it, right? Well, he earned it at the reunion. Jeff asked him if his social life was picking up any. And Rob replied, "Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I have a girlfriend and she's great. The bad news is she doesn't believe a word I say." It's only fitting that the most quotable player in Survivor history gets the final QotW on the Amazon.

FINAL THOUGHT ON SURVIVOR: THE AMAZON

Well, how about a couple final thoughts as I reflect on this season. First off, the men vs. women backfired. It was terrible. Watching the guys not figure out the challenges, and the women not figure out shelter was brutal for everyone involved. Second, this was the best season of Survivor since the first one. It was unpredictable, it was fun and incredibly entertaining. Finally, and this might be a little bold, but I want to go on record saying that Rob Cesternino just single handedly saved Survivor. Africa was bad. Marquesas was blah. Thailand was boring. One more bad season, and the Survivor train may have been halted at the station. But then along comes Rob. A guy who's studied Survivor and knows it inside and out. He knows what he has to do and he has a strategy. He forms alliances, he breaks alliances and then reforms them again. His wit, his comments, his strategy made him one of the best players ever to play the game (even though he didn't win.) And I'd say, without him, this season would have been another lackluster one and we could be saying a permanent goodbye to Survivor. So, I hope Mark Burnett and CBS realize what this one guy meant to the show. And I wanted to take a minute to get my feelings on the matter out there. Hell, the guy saved Survivor and doesn't get the immunity car, doesn't make the final 2 and got his frickin Magic 8-Ball all burnt up. Someone needs to show him some props, so it might as well be me.

And that'll do it for this season of Survivor. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for info on Survivor: Panama, airing this fall on CBS. As I have for 3 seasons now, I'll be getting a preview column up for S7 as soon as the info is made available to me. Until then, take care and God bless.
