Concept: Dominic Toretto travels to Tokyo, the current hotspot for street racing, to try and help out a buddy who is in deep with local gangsters.

Cast: Vin Diesel is expected to reprise his role as Dominic Torretto from the first film.

Crew: Chris Morgan is credited as the screenwriter. I'm not sure who this is. A Chris Morgan is credited as having contributed to the script for the upcoming film "Cellular". Original Film's Neal H. Moritz, who produced the first "The Fast and the Furious" film will also be producing this one. He's also produced the Vin Diesel film "XXX" as well as other brainless eyecandy such as "Torque" and "Soul Survivors".

Final Thoughts: When Diesel asked for too much money for the sequel to "The Fast and the Furious" and threatened to walk, the studio called his bluff and proceeded to make the movie without him. Proving that the franchise could survive Diesel's departure, and Diesel knowing that his monetary demands may be hurting his career rather than helping it (similar behavior lost him the sequel to "XXX"), Universal and Diesel are now ready to kiss and make up. Getting a complete unknown to write the script suggests that this is just the starting point for a long term endeavor which will probably entail several rewrites. This movie may get made, but it'll be a couple of years away.
