Finally, our superstar wannabes give us superstar-like performances in front of a live audience. They each also get a little taste of the superstar lifestyle. Will any of our contestants bend under the pressure?

"Superstar USA" airs on the WB Monday nights at 9pm Eastern / 8pm Central.

Mario - "The Sweetest Sin"

Byron writes: Mario, clearly set up by the network to be the favorite, really looked at home on the stage. I'd been waiting to see what he could do with an audience, and I've seen no one more engaging in my life than this Newport News naughty boy. Mario's vocals were as confident as ever, and I wanted to get down on the floor and grind my pelvis when I saw him do it. Whew! If this is setting the stage for the rest of the performers, we're in for an astounding night!

Millie writes: From Day One, Mario has been providing the sizzle in this competition, and tonight as no exception. Mario's choreography was hot! I loved the part here he sang "it would feel so good, to be so bad." Oh, Mario, such a bad boy, to make me feel oh so good!

Dane writes: Mario's got one lucky fiancee at home. If he brings half the sass to the bedroom that he brought to the stage--well let's just say I'm getting a little flush just thinking about it. I'm going to take the high road and keep this PG.

Howard writes: Never have I seen a man more awkward, more ill at ease, around sexy women than is Mario. The "I have a girlfriend" routine? That works a whole lot better as an introduction than an explanation. But I digress from the performance: stiff, wooden... the better song choice would have been "I've Got No Strings." Just what is going on here? I'm starting to feel like Admiral Stockdale in the 1992 Vice Presidential debates!

Rosa - "Genie in a Bottle"

Byron writes: It had been in the back of my mind all season, but tonight I decided that there was no doubt left: Rosa is everything that J.Lo and C.Ag have tried to be for the past five years. Sultry. Smoldering. Sexy. Sensual. Samazing. Even if she doesn't win this competition (and there's a lot of hefty competition), she has a bright, shiny career ahead of her.

Millie writes: It's a cliche to say that someone makes a song their own... but Rosa truly does! Her version is like no other. Her voice is absolute magic--like a genie in a bottle!

Dane writes: Rosa is as fresh as this WB episode. She's got that great "I threw my hip out" dance move; and her voice sings out like my tea kettle at 6 in the morning. Steam included.

Howard writes: "Better make me come untrue?" It's about to make me come unglued! Rosa is developing some anglo-hispanic answer to jazz scat, only it's not working. At least I agree with Briggs for once--her voice is indeed a lethal weapon. I'm sure our dirty tricks boys in the government are saving these recordings the next time we have to audio-bombard some despot's citadel.

Jo Jo - "Crazy in Love"

Byron writes: From the time Jo Jo's performance started, my television screen was sizzling! From the daring wardrobe to the no-bones-about-it dancing, Jo Jo simply owned the song. Star is written all (and I mean all) over him. Our sexy stud muffin is definitely my Superstar USA. He just needs to work on his breathing a little...

Millie writes: No one's more versatile than Jo Jo! He's shown European elan, down-home soul, and now this week he's kickin' it, old-style, with new-style snake moves that are pure Jo Jo magic. But Jo Jo, Jo Jo? Where was the neck mojo? Let's hope that Jo Jo will be a Survivor, 'cause I am crazy-in-love for this guy!

Dane writes: He my have badunkadunk, but he doesn't have the lung capacity. I think Jo Jo did one too many "no bones" which affected his singing. I didn't mind the heavy breathing, actually I thought it gave the song flair. I just thought his lack of breath didn't lower his voice enough. Well, not deep enough for this boat anyway.

Howard writes: I wasn't in the room when this one started, but I could hear it, and for some reason I thought that this song was actually off to a pretty good start--except I had this crazy mental image that the voice was better suited for Sesame Street's Bert. So I was a bit dismayed when I came back to the visual and didn't get a muppet. It was easily the most energetic performance of the night, though, if Jo Jo's breathless state at the end is any indication.

Jamie - "All by Myself"

Byron writes: Here we go. I've got to tell you, I was never a big fan of this song, and to be very truthful, if it weren't for performance reality television, I wouldn't like many songs. Her very passionate version of the song Celine Dion wrote and performed blew my mind. She's proving to be quite the Jessica Simpson, but with brains.

Millie writes: There had to have been a lot of pressure on Jamie. She was the last up, and even though she didn't hear the others sing, she must have sensed the electricity in the crowd when she came out. Jamie had to give the performance of a lifetime, and she did. Part singing, part interpretative dance, and all-star star power. I got chills.

Dane writes: Did she write the words on her pants instead of her hand? If so, it's only a small fault, because she brought the power. The unnatural phrasing, the constant "Here we go's," the way she writhed on stage, she won't be by herself for long, if you know what I mean. Briggs, you got some competition for this sexy lass. Maybe we could double-team her current man. BAM!

Howard writes: Oh, would that you were. Alas, you're not, but don't let that stop you. Actually, this song was also one that was off to a halfway decent start... until... (Here we go) the chorus and (Here we go) the next verse and (Here we go) the big finale.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Jo Jo didn't make the cut.

Byron writes: WHAT?!

Millie writes: No! No! Not Jo Jo! Had he stuck with the neck move, he would have made it another round. But Jo Jo doesn't play it safe. Jo Jo goes out on a limb. Jo Jo reinvents himself. We will see Jo Jo again.

Dane writes: Jo Jo is a no go. I agree with the decision. Tonight he faltered a bit while the rest shined. Tough break.

Howard writes: If I have to pick one (do I have to pick one?) I'd be forced to go with Jo Jo as having the best performance of the four. But, of course, I forgot this is looking-glass land, where everything logical is madness, and Jo Jo is the one sent home. Could we at least see the judges perform their coin toss when making selections, because there can't be any other way they're doing this.
