Reality Bites: Last Comic Standing 3 - Announcement of Winner

Put it in the "truth is stranger than fiction" category. Or maybe the "Network Execs are stranger than truth and fiction combined" category.
Last week, we saw the final competition of Last Comic Standing 3. John Heffron, Rich Vos, Dave Mordal and Alonzo Bodden competed for the title of Last Comic Standing. At the end of the episode, host Jay Mohr exhorted the audience to tune in next week to find out the winner.
But between then and now, NBC execs decided to pull the finale of Last Comic Standing from the line-up, instead running a Father of the Pride marathon. While the ratings for Last Comic Standing 3 didn't measure up to those of the previous two series, pulling the series with one episode left -- particularly when it's the results of a competition -- makes no sense. Surely they could have at least shown a half-hour episode, as a compromise?
NBC actually decided on a different compromise. The final episode of Last Comic Standing 3 is scheduled to be shown on Comedy Central on Saturday, October 16, at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
However, for those of us who don't have cable (or who just can't wait), the official site lists the winner already. So, without further ado ... the winner of Last Comic Standing 3 is Alonzo Bodden!
Final Thoughts: My prediction last week was that Dave Mordal would win. But I'm not displeased that Alonzo, my prediction for number two, won. He's a good comic who's proved his chops. I just hope this ill treatment of the season finale isn't a bad omen for the rest of his reign!
