The Twilight Saga: New Moon Prize Pack
Ends Nov 29, 2009
The second installment of the Twilight saga is hitting theaters, and we've got the stylish goodies you'll howl over!
Hello good people and welcome back to Lost and Delirious. We’re down to 5 and in the middle of Survivor week where at the end we will crown the sole Survivor. Can Chris continue his run to the money or will the women make it an all-estrogen final? Will Eliza’s eyes pop out of her dwindling frame? Will Julie ever be seen making another move on screen? Will Scout move beyond the speed of smell? And will Twila ever live down swearing on her son’s name? After tonight, we’ll know the answer to at least one of these questions. Let’s find out which ones…
THE DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE
Per formula, the castaways are returning from Tribal Council and as Chris narrates that with Ami gone he is expecting a nice quiet evening. It begins that way until Darth Twila unleashes the powers of the dark side on ET Eliza. Twila basically tells everyone to kiss her ass because she’s tired of hearing about her swear. She wishes she never said it but let it go. Eliza does not help the situation by getting into another argument with her. They go back and forth and at point even Scout seemed to be looking at Twila with a “will you shut up” expression. Twila says the only person she has anything to explain anything to is her son when she gets home. Julie tries to tell her that she has never mentioned it but Twila is so far over the edge that she isn’t listening anymore. Julie tells us that she is glad that Twila had her little temper tantrum because it turned everyone off and Julie says she will use it against her later. Eliza rants and raves that no one talks to her like that and she is sick of Twila. Writer’s Aside: Even I was hoping that Eliza would bitch-slap Twila during this little tirade. Get real Twila. Did you really expect it to not be used against you? What makes a lie a really good lie is how you can use it to your advantage. Johnny Fairplay had the ultimate lie and milked it for everything it was worth. Julie lied to Twila earlier in the game and it has helped Julie make it this far when she would have gone home before the merge. Stand by your lie and if you can’t then bear the consequences otherwise check out of the game and back to laying asphalt in the hot sun.
Day 34 dawns and Scout is cutting wood as usual. Julie and Eliza are trying to stay as far from Twila as possible. Chris sees that Twila is offending everyone and he is nervous because she is upsetting everyone. Julie is working on Eliza trying to get her to vote out Twila instead of her but all Eliza can say is “I don’t know.” Wow, Eliza seems to be figuring out how to play the game. Eliza is telling Julie that she needs to talk to Chris and get him on board before she will commit to anything.
REWARD CHALLENGE
It is time for the Super Challenge. This is a chance to relive some of the challenges of the past. All five will go through the mud pit crawling under the bamboo. The first four to finish move on to the pig pen where you will get in and get one of the pigs with an orange mark on it’s back and get it into it’s pen. The first three to finish move on to the tiki puzzle. The first two to correctly assemble the puzzle will move on to the final stage. They will race up a ladder and across a balance beam and down the other side where using a slingshot you must break three tiles to raise a torch to light the wok. The first one to light their wok will win reward. The reward is a horseback ride to Mt Yasur, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Once there, you will have a snack of hot dogs, wine, hot chocolate and beer. You will spend the night and return in the morning, Let’s play.
The first stage sees Scout eliminated which is no big surprise. I guess that knee is really that bad. You know, Julie looks really good covered in mud in her bikini. Oops, sorry, my mind was wandering. The second stage sees Eliza eliminated. She must really be afraid of pigs as we learned earlier in the game. At the tiki puzzle, Chris thinks he has it done first but it’s wrong because there is one piece behind him that he never sees or uses even though he steps on it. While Chris wallows, Twila and Julie move on to the finals. Julie races across the balance beam and when Twila takes a hard fall on the cargo net and twists her knee but she makes quick work of the knot on the slingshot. Julie makes quick work of the three tiles with three consecutive hits and wins reward. She gets to pick someone to go with her and Twila, who has pissed everyone off in the last 18 hours, looks like a dog begging for a treat only to lose out to Chris. Julie says it’s ironic because none of them would take her. You can see that Twila is upset about not going on the trip. Julie and Chris leave for their date with the volcano as the other three limp back to camp.
We return from commercial to see that Chris and Julie have cleaned up and are approaching Mt Yasur. Julie tells us that Chris is her key to making it farther in the game plus she needed to talk to him. They meet their guide and mount their horses. As they make their way on the horses, Chris’s horse doesn’t want to cross the river. I kept waiting for the horse to dump him but alas they finally make it across and keep heading for their destination. We are treated to some beautiful shots of the volcano and the ash bed that has accumulated over time. A truly wonderful sight especially since I love volcanoes. They arrive at their hut to find a huge pile of hot dogs and the fixins along with the beer and wine. I never saw the hot chocolate. Their guide shows them how to cook their hot dogs using one of the steam vents. It takes about three minutes to warm up the hot dogs and the feast begins. Chris says he is not surprised that Julie picked him. They discuss strategy while Chris admits that Julie has been feeding him information. Chris tells us he took in the information but has not decided what he is going to do. Julie calls Chris her rock since he is her only hope at this stage.
Back at Alinta, Eliza is stuck with the senior citizens. She is looking for some of the bananas but Twila says she has buried them to ripen and refuses to dig them up nor tell them where they are buried. When Eliza presses her about it, Twila threatens to let them rot in the ground. Of course, Scout is taking Twila’s side and telling the “little one”, Eliza, to let it go because they want the bananas for breakfast. When Eliza threatens to bury her own bananas and not tell the old farts where they are buried they just laugh and give us the old playground taunts that she got them. Writer’s Aside: Ok, I have officially had it with the senior citizen wrecking crew. This was just awful behavior. It’s freakin bananas! No pun intended. Eliza looks bad enough and is in desperate need of food so give her a damn banana but no we have to get the wicked witch of the island routine from the two old ladies who couldn’t win their way out of a paper bag.
Night has fallen and Chris and Julie are making their way to the observation point for the volcano. Their guide has returned and taking them as close as possible as they watch Mt Yasur erupted with brilliant display. I am so jealous. Chris and Julie are both in awe of the power of the nature before heading back to their hut for the night.
Day 35 has dawned and all are reunited back at the Alinta camp. Scout greets Chris with a hug as he tells her that nothing has changed and the plan is still in place. This puts Scout’s mind at ease. Chris goes to find Twila, who also gives Chris a hug, and is relieved to hear that the plan is still the same. Chris says Twila is a basket case so you have to reassure her. Eliza is glad to have Chris and Julie back at camp and not just because she’s sick of the geriatric ward. She finally gets to talk to Chris to see if he is really open to Julie’s suggestion to vote out Twila. They discuss it on the beach and they both agree that Twila and Scout will stick together no matter what happens. Chris doesn’t trust any of the women and he notes that they don’t trust each other. He thinks they trust him. He gets Eliza to agree to see what happens at the immunity challenge and then they would talk again.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
The castaways arrive and Jeff takes the immunity necklace back from Chris. The challenge is for them to listen to a legendary story about a local chief, Roy Mata, and then answer questions about what they retain from the story. Jeff tells the story, which I will not type out, and then explains how the rest of the challenge will play out. There are six huts scattered in the jungle. You will run to a hut and put a puzzle together that has the question on it. Attached to each hut is two bags. Reach into the bag, without looking, that you think is the answer and pull out a tusk. If the tusk is white then you got the question right and bring the tusk back to your necklace and attach it. If your tusk is black then your answer is wrong and you must throw the black tusk into the fire in the center of the challenge and try again. The first person to get five answers correct wins immunity. They’re off and Eliza jumps out to a quick lead followed closely by Julie. Chris tries to stay in the game but he just can’t keep up. Twila and Scout are hardly ever heard from in this challenge until near the end. At the end, Eliza and Julie each have 4 tusks and as Julie approaches a hut we see Twila coming out but she stops and goes back to undo the puzzle delaying Julie. It’s enough time to give the win to Eliza. Eliza wins immunity. I don’t know if Twila held up Julie on purpose but it sure seemed that way.
Back at camp on Day 36, Eliza is ecstatic because she is safe from the vote. She thinks that Twila is going home tonight and she is giddy. Eliza and Julie see Chris talking to Scout and Twila talking on the beach and wonder what is going on. Chris is actually promising Scout and Twila that Julie is going home. He tells us that he can’t make up his mind. As Chris and Eliza are discussing strategy, they realize that Twila is listening to every word they are saying to each other. The camera pans back and Darth Twila reappears and pulls out her dark side of the Force temper. Eliza and Twila get into it again as Twila accuses Eliza of scheming with Julie to get rid of her. Eliza says she is only listening to what Julie has to say but it’s not convincing Twila. She then turns her tirade on Chris who says he is only listening to Eliza. Chris tells us again that he is the middle man and he can’t trust any of them.
Chris is talking to Julie and is telling her that he is voting out Twila because he values their friendship. He also says he calls Julie his baby sister. Julie is hoping that he keeps his word. In the next scene, Chris is promising Twila and Scout that he is sending Julie home tonight in spite of their friendship. Twila tells us that she hopes Chris is telling her the turth and she can’t trust anyone with a million dollars on the line. As they are getting ready to head to Tribal Council, Chris tells us that he is in a tough position but he has to make a final decision and it will what is best for him.
TRIBAL COUNCIL
The castaways arrive followed by the jury which now consists of Sarge, Chad, Leann and Ami. Leann and Ami are looking pretty good. Jeff goes right after them. He asks if they are thinking about who deserves to win the game or if they thinking about who doesn’t deserve to win and points it right at Twila. She tries her hardest not to answer him but he calls her on it finally admits, after prompting from everyone to just say it, that there is someone who does not deserve to be there. Eliza immediately pipes up that it is her. Jeff says it’s no secret that Twila and Eliza have not gotten along. Jeff asks Eliza the same question but she says that everyone deserves to be there but it also does not mean that she likes them. She says that in order to get this far they must be doing something right. Jeff turns to Julie and asks if she is wondering who take with her to the Fianl 4. She says that is part of her considerations because the longer you are around someone it gets easier to tell where they are coming from and whether they are trustworthy or not. Jeff asks her if there are people still in the game that she can trust and she says yes without hesitation. Jeff asks Chris what is tough about tonight’s vote. He says it’s the toughest vote because he is caught in the middle and even though he doesn’t want to vote he is going to play the game. With that, it is time to vote. Scout votes for Julie citing some garbage to go back to her roots. Eliza votes for Twila stating she has been wanting to send her home since she first saw her. We don’t see Chris’s vote but we hear him say that he’s here to play the game. When the votes are read, it is Julie sent home 3-2. Eliza, who was giddy thinking Twila was going home, is absolutely shell-shocked. Julie leaves somberly. Jeff tells them that they have made it to the Final Four and over the next three days there will be three Tribal Councils, 2 Immunity Challenges and one winner. Writer’s Aside: I do not understand why Chris felt the need to lie to Julie. As much as strategy is important while you are still in the game, it is even more vital to have some when considering who is on the jury. I know he still has to get there but this could be a fatal blunder for Chris.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Not a lot to pick from this week so I’ll have to stay with Twila and Eliza for their comments at Tribal Council. ”Yes, there is someone who does not deserve to be here.” I know it’s a lame quote but it was a pretty dry week.
This is it folks – the Final Four is Chris (40-1), Eliza (40-1), Scout (75-1) and Twila (100-1). This is one of the most undeserving Final Four’s in history. Only Chris really deserves to be here but the other three have pissed me off so much or been so damn annoying that it’s sickening to see them still in the game. I guess Jim’s old pattern held true, a 75-1 pick made it to the Final Four. And, as Jim used to do, I do not have a single Final 4 pick left standing. Now that we know the Final Four, let’s give them some new odds…Chris (7-4); Eliza (10-1); Twila (25-1) and Scout (1000 to 1). I just can’t imagine either Twila or Scout winning this thing. No one on the jury likes them much except for Sarge liking Twila. Here’s my Final Four picks: Chris=winner. Twila=2nd place. Scout=3rd place. Eliza=4th place. Am I right? Tune back in Sunday to see if my latest picks are any better than my original ones. Don’t forget, we get a two-hour show followed by the Reunion Show, which ought to be pretty good given how these people really feel about each other. Until then, take care and God Bless.
