A Dose of Reality: American Idol 4: The Top 24
by The Trades Staff
Published: February 17, 2005
Dan Weltin here to guide you on tonight's emotional journey. Oh boy, we're getting close now. After tonight there'll only be 24 contestants left -- 12 boys and 12 girls. That's right, we're talking about THE 24 contestants that will go in front of America.
There'll be no singing tonight, just sitting in front of the judges in a wooden chair. Randy, Paula and Simon have already made their decision by looking at past performances on tape.
I'm going to cut right to the chase. Here is your top 24:
TOP 12 GIRLS
Jessica Sierra: She's been good, especially her birthday performance.
Aloha Mischeaux: Don't think we've seen her before. Tonight's voice wasn't unanimous.
Mikalah Gordon: I'll bite my tongue tonight. But only this once.
Nadia Turner: She's the girl with the big hair. I've always liked her, though I wonder if she'll keep the trademark 'fro when she makes it to the top 12.
Vonzell Solomon: From what I saw last night she's a good singer, but she doesn't stick out in a crowd.
Carrie Underwood: Farm girl and tree picture taker. If she sticks to country-style songs, she'll go far.
Sarah Mather: Are her British parents swinging Simon's vote? Maybe, but her talent is also keeping her afloat. Plus she's a hottie. And a British one at that.
Celena Rae: Haven't seen her before, but in tonight's clip she sounded good (and good lookin' too).
Janay Castine: We didn't see the judges decision or hear her sing, so how good can she really be?
Lindsay Cardinale: Last night I called her bland. I'll stick by that.
Melinda Lira: Who?
Amanda Avila: I have a personal bias against her now. The decision for the final spot came down between her and Jaclyn Crum. And since Amanda won over my personal fav didn't, I have no choice but to boo her. No wait. That's not fair for Amanda. There's plenty of other women to take out my frustration on.
TOP 12 BOYS
David Brown: This church goin' lad has Jesus on his side. Though he doesn't really need the extra help. David's just fine on his own.
Nikko Smith:Ozzie's Smith son was good when we first saw him. We haven't seen or heard from him since, so I'll just have to take the judges word that he's still that good.
Anthony Fedorov:The Boy Wonder. Watch out, he's for sure already got a speed-dialing fan club. And with good reason.
Judd Harris: It was a split decision, but he's probably worthy of his yes. He's got good stage presence.
Joseph Murena: One word: who?
Anwar Robinson: This music teacher and Milli Vanilli look alike definitely deserves to be going to the next round.
Mario Vasquez: Was there ever any doubt that this teen heartthrob would be going on to the next round? Didn't think so.
Bo Bice: This rocker didn't get Simon's support, but he still made it through. He sings OK, but he is really greasy looking. Like he's ready to join Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Jared Yates: Another no-namer (as they say in professional wrestling).
Constatine Maroulis: This rocker is cleaner and more talented than Bo.
Scott Savol: My man Scott is a talented guy. Watch out for him. He's my top pick.
Travis Tucker: Travis did a little break dancing in his initial audition. His singing is just as good as his moves -- no, better.
That's all of them. Starting Monday, America votes.
