It's Molly, with a recap of this week's hour-long results show. Perhaps because of the house show being moved to VH1, this week CBS gave us some post-show house drama at the start of this episode. Jordis agonized about her performance. Ty seemed confident in his performance, saying it was time for someone who hadn't been in the bottom three to experience that. Suzie had no idea who would be at the bottom.

When host Brooke Burke asked who felt they deserved an encore, practically everyone raised their hand. Dave Navarro gave the nod to Suzie McNeil, which surprised the heck out of me considering that I'd thought her performance was weak. I can't help but wonder if that wasn't maybe a little gift to make up for her recent appearances in the bottom three. If so, it worked, because Suzie was clearly energized as she took the stage.

Back to the house, where Deanna complained about criticism from INXS for being in her "comfort zone" singing power rock. Shockingly, J.D. was not sympathetic to a competitor's complaints! He also was not sympathetic to Jordis's concerns that she might be in the bottom three and that that might cause INXS to think she's not right for their band. Marty, for his part, had responded to INXS's suggestion to "turn it down" by resolving to turn it up. He wanted to bring modern angst and intensity to INXS.

Seeing as how we had an hour for this results show, Brooke talked with the performers about the footage we saw in the house. Marty defended his decision to use the interpretation that he did (particularly after some low-key performances), and INXS confirmed it hadn't hurt him -- they gave him all respect for staying true to himself. All of the little interviews were similar love fests -- the performers giving their admiration of INXS, and the band saying how much they admired each performer.

Finally, we got some action. Brooke asked Deanna, Ty, and Jordis to stand up as the ones who in the early voting were in the bottom three. Also asked to stand were JD, Marty, and Mig, who were in the bottom three at some point. Suzie was overjoyed that she was not in the bottom three at any point. Then, one by one, Brooke revealed who the final three were.

Ty Taylor - "What You Need"

I was shocked Ty was in the bottom three, and so was Ty, I think. He seemed a little distracted at times when he sang "What You Need." However, he did a great job, and I think at some points the lyrics were cheering him up (e.g., "Ain't no sense in all your crying/Just pick it up and throw it into shape."). He sounded great to me -- but then again, I thought he sounded great last night, too!

Deanna Johnston - "Elegantly Wasted"

This was a good song for Deanna to sing. Dave Navarro gave Deanna permission to just sing in her comfort zone this time (of course, he's not INXS), and her growly style really suited this song. On the other hand, there was something disconcerting about the way that Deanna got to her knees when she said how much she liked doing INXS songs.

Marty Casey - "Don't Change"

This is the first time we've seen Marty in the bottom three, and new performers there are always interesting -- how will they do with INXS songs? Marty's hard-rocking style made some wonder if he was suited to INXS. But based on this performance, he's a great fit! He seemed very comfortable fronting this song, sounded good (if rough), and for the first time I could absolutely see him as the lead singer of INXS. Whether he'd truly be happy with that is another question, but I think that being bottom three might be a blessing in disguise for him in terms of the competition, because I'd say his stock rose.

The Cut: This week's departure was ... Deanna! And again I say, thank heavens! It's not just that I don't care for her singing, but since she kept ending up in the bottom three I kept having to listen to her twice a week! With her departure, I'd say the obvious dead weight has been cut, and the remaining competition is going to be very tight!
