Alias, the gripping, fast-paced CIA drama from ABC, is out on DVD. Jennifer Garner is Agent Sydney Bristow and the fourth season is filled with explosive revelations, unbelievable surprises, and plenty of action.

This six-disc set features all 22 episodes from the fourth season. This season, Sydney will join the covert APO unit which features some familiar faces. Sydney is reunited with Nadia. A powerful supercomputer is stolen. A bio-weapon capable of "freeze drying" humans is being sold. Sydney and Vaughn must learn how to pretend to be Americans. Two agents are already dead and Sydney could be the next. Nadia wants to get closer to Sloane. Sydney will confront an old nemesis. Jack gambles with Nadia's life. Sloane may be reforming The Alliance.

Vaughn discovers some shocking information about his father. Nadia meets an old friend. Sydney is buried alive. Vaughn investigates his father. A music box reveals some surprising information. A man is impersonating Sloane. A terrorist group may wipe out an entire ecosystem. Nadia is betrayed. The real Sloane is in danger. Dixon is critically injured. Vaughn has an important question for Sydney. A final showdown awaits. This season was absolutely terrific. It was difficult for me to watch episodes one-at-a-time. I would watch them in groups, viewing three or four in a row without stopping. The season's plot lines are carefully crafted and the episodes flow smoothly. It's also really nice not to fool around with fast-forwarding through commercials.

Complementing an excellent season are nine bonus features. The featurettes add more than one hour of entertainment to this set. The featurettes include a 6-minute chat with Jennifer Garner, an 11-minute look at the guest stars of this season including selected scenes, an 11-minute blooper reel, 10 deleted scenes, a closer look at the actress who plays Nadia, and a series of behind-the-scenes photographs. Two scenes are disected in "Anatomy of a Scene." We also get a closer look at Marshall's contributions to the assignments.

Some TV season box sets don't even have bonus materials so the fact that "Alias - The Complete Fourth Season" has some terrific bonus content is another reason to buy this set. The content is diverse across the nine different features. It's also very in-depth with the majority of segments in excess of 11 minutes each. In addition to the items explicitly labeled as bonus features, there are a few more extras included. Four of the episodes have an optional audio commentary feature to accompany the presentation. This set also includes the never-before-seen unedited version of episode six, "Nocturne." For a complete listing of the bonus materials and their lengths, consult the disc guide below.

My only gripe about this set is the arrangement of the discs. They are arranged in the box set so that the odd-numbered discs are partially covering the even-numbered discs. If you want to extract an even-numbered disc, you must first remove the odd-numbered disc to get access to the even-numbered disc. You must do the same when you want to replace the disc. DVD discs are hard enough to get out without having to play hide-and-go-seek.
