The supernatural drama from the WB, Charmed, is being released on DVD. Charmed is the story of three sisters who share a common destiny. Although very different people, the sisters, known as the Charmed Ones, must come together to fulfill an ancient witchcraft prophecy.
They are the Halliwell sisters: Prue, played by Shannen Doherty, Phoebe, played by Alyssa Milano, and Piper, played by Holly Marie Combs. This set features six discs that contain all 22 episodes. The episodes originally aired from October 5, 2000 through May 17, 2001. The series is presented in Full Screen with English and French audio available.
During this season, Prue and Phoebe will free a killer in order to protect their identities. Piper and Leo (Brian Krause) will try to get married in spite of the expected wrath of The Powers That Be. Prue and Phoebe must protect a fairy princess from evil. The sisters travel back to the 1600s. An invisible demon threatens the sisters. Prue is cursed and her time is running out. The sisters are pitted against each other. Prue and Piper pair up to destroy Belthazor but Phoebe is thinking of another way. Piper's soul is at risk of dying. The Nothing proves to be something when innocent children are threatened.
The sisters will face their most powerful opponent yet. Prue's old boyfriend is becoming a demon. Prue is tricked into marriage. Phoebe visits a ghost town. Piper's marriage is put on hold. Prue faces the Angel of Death. The sisters battle a warlock that only gets stronger. The sisters may succumb to their own sins. Someone must go undercover in The Brotherhood. Phoebe loses control of her powers. Prue becomes a dog. Phoebe must sacrifice herself but she may destroy them all at the same time.
Surprisingly, this set contains no bonus features, a troubling trend in some TV box sets. Usually reserved for older series where bonus features are more difficult to find, the lack of bonus features in a new series such as Charmed is more unusual. This season began airing barely five years ago. Since the series is still filming new episodes, it would be very easy to have some of the stars sit down for an audio commentary track, interview, or some sort of featurette to add to the set. The set comes in three double-sided slim clear cases which slip into the main box.
