Silk Stalkings, the silly "crime" drama that follows murders in the High Society of Palm Beach, is now being released on DVD. The fourth season features 22 episodes that originally aired on USA (the series was on CBS for its first two seasons) from September 18, 1994 through March 19, 1995.
Rob Estes plays Sergeant Chris Lorenzo and is joined by Mitzi Kapture playing Sergeant Rita Lee Lance. Together, they investigate crimes of passion among the wealthy, which are known as "silk stalkings." The show takes you into the "dark side" of this glamorous world. It is the cops' job to solve these high-profile cases.
During this season, a serial killer stalks the city. Rita continues looking for a sex killer. Chris and Rita must protect a witness from the mob. A sex slavery ring is exposed. A woman is murdered and the accused is her daughter who suffers from multiple personality disorder. A jealous son may have murdered his wealthy father. A new business venture results in murder. A family patriarch was murdered. A female mud wrestler is murdered. (Who writes this stuff?) A washed-up rock star pulls out all the stops to revive her career. A woman is suspected of being behind a deadly extortion scheme. A corporate party ends with murder.
A former prostitute cannot escape her past. Twin dancers have their sex lives exposed when one of their husbands turns up dead. (Seriously, who writes this stuff?) A teenager is suspected of murdering a woman's abusive husband. Rita's foster brother is suspected of murder. The captain is reunited with an old friend during a murder investigation. A young woman receives a series of threatening phone calls. Chris is accused of sexual harrassment. A corrupt judge is providing lenient sentences in exchange for sex. (I repeat my question again.) Rita investigates a murder involving an affair and a state senator. Chris and Rita are involved in a federal gun smuggling case.
The show seems very cheesy and goofy to this humble viewer. The plot lines are, at times, quite laughable. The font selection for this set should have been considered more; it is so stylized that it can be extremely difficult to read. The three-disc set features the unnecessarly awkward double-sided discs that come in two slim clear cases (discs one and two share a case) that slip into the exterior box. As with most older TV shows, there is no bonus content on the set.
