Knight Rider followed Michael Knight, originally Michael Long, a wounded policeman nursed back to health by a millionaire. That millionaire wants Michael to fight criminals who flaunt the law. He creates the Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T.). He gives Michael his new identity and sends him out to fight crime with K.I.T.T., his high performance vehicle with a mind (and a voice) of its own.
David Hasselhoff plays Michael Knight. William Daniels was the uncredited voice of K.I.T.T. Together, they fought criminals for four seasons on NBC. This release features all 22 episodes from the third season that originally aired from September 30, 1984 through May 5, 1985.
The chance to revisit a program I watched as a kid was fun. The show certainly is more fun when you are young and your imagination can withstand anything. A talking car is still really cool but not as cool as it once was. There were at least two separate times that I let out a chuckle: a conversation between a grown man and a car was just a bit humorous. This season features plenty of action and includes the return of K.I.T.T.'s evil twin, K.A.R.R. As with any TV show, there are a few episodes in every season that don't quite live up to the rest of the season. Luckily, the majority of episodes this season don't fit in that category.
The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0. There are English and Spanish subtitles available.
This set features three double-sided discs that we all despise. There are no bonus features on this set, which is not uncommon for older TV series. There is a bonus episode which is simply an episode from the fourth season. Overall, this set would be a good purchase for a fan of the series. It might also be a good purchase for a kid that can still enjoy a talking car in all of its glory. As fun as it was, this season is a bit pricey. With an average price around $40, this set would not be a good addition to a price-conscious DVD collection.
