The Newlyweds is over and Nick and Jessica are history, but now reality fans can Meet the Barkers. Actress/model Shanna Moakler and her husband, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, expose their lives to the world in this MTV reality hit.

“Letting cameras follow us around all the time was something Travis and I sat down and really thought about,” Moakler says. “Putting our children on camera isn’t something we took lightly. We really thought about it. But in the big picture, even without the cameras in our house, when Travis goes out, there are lots of fans that come up to him. So the show didn’t really change our lives very much.”

The key question with any reality show is, how much of what the audience sees is authentic? “We don’t reenact anything, but I don’t think there’s anything real about reality TV,” Moakler admits. “It’s a documentary style thing, but they do make storylines. It’s real, but there’s a very fine line.”

Moakler links the popularity of reality TV to the fact that it gives normal people the chance to become instant celebrities. “Our show’s a little different, because Travis has had some success on his own already, but I think people look at the other reality shows and think, ‘Hey, that could be me. I could be on The Bachelor. I could be on Survivor.’ These shows take normal, average, everyday people and put them in these [extraordinary] situations. It makes people feel like they could be a star.”

Besides revealing her life to the world in Meet the Barkers, the former Miss USA can also be seen in “Big Mamma’s House 2” as a woman applying for a nanny position that gets interrogated by Big Mamma. She raves about the positive attitude Martin Lawrence maintained on the set, despite the difficulties of wearing the Big Mamma suit. “In between takes he literally had to sit down and be fanned,” she says. “The set was so cold, because he was in that suit. He was so uncomfortable, and you just felt bad for him. [Laughs]. So he wasn’t doing a lot of tricks or stand-up comedy. He was just trying not to faint in the suit.”

As much as Moakler strives to have a successful career, her family remains her top priority. Last December, she welcomed her third child into the world. She says parenting is easier the third time around. “When you first become a young mom, you’re trying to feel everything out. Now I’ve found my rhythm. I’ve found my niche. I don’t have that anxiety. I’m much calmer. I think that makes you a better parent, because you’re more in-tune with your children.”

Moakler’s many talents prove she has a knack for thriving in whatever situation she’s placed in, and she is, without a doubt, reality TV’s hottest mom.
