Huey, Dewey, and Louie are back in this spin-off of the successful 1980’s Disney afternoon cartoon Ducktales. The boys are now teenagers and living with their lovable and temperamental uncle Donald. As they grow older, new methods of mischief are opened to them, with most of their free time playing practical jokes on poor clueless Donald or otherwise finding new ways to get into trouble.

This DVD entitled “Quack Pack, Volume 1” is a three episode set featuring “Transmission Impossible”, in which the boys unlocking a secret TV channel capable of transporting treasures over the airwaves. In “Heavy Dental”, Huey is mistaken for an agent of some sort and is given braces that can control the mind of whomever he happens to give an order to, and “Feats of Clay” has Huey investigating a string of thefts at a Chinese archeological dig in an attempt to impress the girl working there.

While the total run of the show was only 39 episodes due to not having the 65 episode contract, I feel that this is quite a weak release. It retails at about half of what the DuckTales set cost, but only featuring a sliver of the content that the 27 episode three disc set provided. Like DuckTales, this set is devoid of extras, unless you count some advertisement for other Disney releases as an extra, I certainly do not. I sincerely hope that they do not plan on releasing this series as 13 discs total with three episodes each, it would be much better off to bundle the series as either one set with all 39 episodes, or two with about 20 each. Given that the future release schedule is as of this writing unknown, my recommendation would be to pass on this disc until it is certain that it will be the only way to acquire these specific episodes. Hopefully Disney will wake up and make the box sets that practically everyone desires.
