The Twilight Saga: New Moon Prize Pack
Ends Nov 29, 2009
The second installment of the Twilight saga is hitting theaters, and we've got the stylish goodies you'll howl over!
Janelle and George: two Big Brother contestants who couldn't be more further apart. But they've got two things in common: they've both been given Jedi training by Hurricane Howie; and tonight, they've both been nominated by reigning Head of Household Erika for eviction. Janelle was an obvious choice. She's put Erika up on the block before when she was Head of Household. By that standard, George's selection is also obvious, since he did the same thing to Erika during his (very brief) tenure in that office.
That leaves three Big Brother contestants in the voting pool: Doctor Will, his henchman Mike Boogie, and the increasingly suspicious Danielle. Danielle certainly wants Janelle out of the house, but the way Will and Boogie have played this game, I'd expect them to kick out George and keep the bigger target in the house to keep the heat off of them. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves -- there's a Power of Veto competition coming up tonight, and Janelle has been the Queen of the Veto games. If Jedi Janie wins it again, it can only go three ways: Erika will put up Will, and George will go home (with Janelle and Boogie's votes); Erika will put up Boogie, with the same results; or -- and this one has the most promise for drama -- Erika will break her promise to Danielle, put Danielle up, and Danielle will go out with a three-zip no contest vote.
If Jedi Georgie wins the veto, things become a lot less predictable, but we can assume that George's vote would be to keep Janelle, and the prevention of that vote is largely why Erika claims she put him up on the block with Janie. Of course, all the other players are going to be fighting for the power, so there are a lot of other variables to consider.
George doesn't really suck up to Chilltown, but he does give them their props. He tells Will and Mike that he can't believe that no one has taken up the task of going after Will, "the baddest guy in Big Brother history!" Well, George, it's not like you didn't have your shot at the task when you put up James and Erika.
Almost everybody has one-on-one meetings with Erika: in the HoH room, in the bathroom, in the kitchen. Erika can't get away from these people. First, Will sends Janelle in to see Erika, to make nice and tell Erika that she'll be safe from Janelle if Janelle gets taken off the block. Janelle promises to go after Chilltown, instead. But, uhm... waitaminnit. Isn't Erika aligned with Chilltown?
Apparently Erika doesn't think of that, because by the time everything is over with tonight's show, Janie and Erika really do seem to have made nice, even though the beginning was an obvious ploy. She and Erika even go so far as to say how nice it is for both of them to be on the same side again.
Meanwhile, Will goes to work on Danielle, asking her if there's any benefit to keeping either of the current nominees. Will knows Danielle is suspicious, and Danielle demands confirmation that Janelle is going down. She knows that Janelle is working with Chilltown, and she sees that Erika won't nominate Chilltown. The Sherlock Holmes of Big Brother is hard on the case... and she's facing down her Moriarty.
In an HoH confab, Danielle tells Erika that she is taking her to the final two. She breaks out the devil-horns in reference to Will, vowing to win the Power of Veto, get George off the block, and put up Will. Erika admits that putting up Will is a good idea, but that she's technically a member of Chilltown. (Hey, who isn't at this point? Well, I guess Danielle, who must feel as though she were part of the Legion of Doomed after James was ejected.) Danielle can't wait to kick Will out -- the Danielle of BB3 is back, and declares "I've got something wicked coming." It's going to be Asmodeus versus Beelzebub, folks, and there's going to be the devil to pay!
The editors have some fun putting together a dream sequence over a sleeping Will of all his mentions of Neil Patrick Harris. He's made no secret of his idolization of the star of How I Met Your Mother. Well, Will's the first to get his Christmas in August present, because while the houseguests sleep, Harris enters the house wearing a Santa hat, calling out, "Ho, ho, ho!" He wakes up Will, and everyone gets their hugs in. Neil hangs around quite a bit, trying the slop ("That's all kinds of nasty!"), jumping on the new trampoline with Will and Boogie, and even giving some Diary Room commentary on the houseguests (Janelle: Radiant. Boogie: Needs new clothes. George: "Simple".) He gives George a full-blown Santa suit to put on, which of course George does, and the Chicken Man gets to lead the parade out into the yard where a giant tree is stuffed with Christmas presents. All in all, quite a long visit. Is this perhaps the preview of a Celebrity Big Brother? (Oh, I forgot -- the Surreal Life is already a taken concept.)
During some downtime in the workout room, George tells Chilltown about the time he got struck by lightning. No, really, he did! Will asks, "Did you have any super powers afterward?" George laughs, and says he never had any side effects from the experience. The editors then go into a rapid clip show of all of George's outlandish and garish outfits of this season. Boogie tells the Diary Room that this confirms George can't win a contest of this magnitude, because lightning doesn't strike twice.
Will is potentially focusing on Janelle again, but admits he'd take her off the block if he knew Danielle would go up. He works on Erika indirectly through his proxy, Mike Boogie. With his usual "under the covers" work, Erika once again threatens to kick Boogie's butt if she finds out she's being played. Girlfriend, wake up and smell the Dolce t-shirt!
We finally get to the Power of Veto competition, and it's one of those one-player-at-a-time games, with the other players sequestered during each round. The game is the facial recognition game -- not the morphomatic game we've seen before, but one where facial parts of two evicted houseguests are shown on the screen in blinking patterns. The task: identify the pairs of evictees until you've done them all, and do it in the shortest time. We see Boogie intentionally linger, but even he couldn't linger as long as George who is clearly outmatched in this kind of competition. It's nothing but buzzers for George. But for Janelle... the bell is ringing faster than a four-alarm fire call! And when the last houseguest has run the course, the final tally came out like this:
George 24:23
Mike 7:42
Will 3:19
Erika 1:51
Danielle 1:23
Janelle 1:00
The cold look Janelle casts at Danielle is absolutely priceless. Jedi Janie wins again. Danielle still feels safe, since she is sure someone from Chilltown will go up. Will wants Danielle to go up, but to go up with the illusion that she's safe.
The guys are in absolute awe of Janelle's gameplay, and rightfully so. Even Doctor Will says, alone in the Diary Room, that Janelle is hands-down the best reality competitor he has ever seen.
Everyone is after Erika to put up Danielle. "We'll be the hitmen," promises Will. "She'll blame us," adds Boogie. The hell she will! You don't blame the voters when you get kicked out, you blame the HoH who put you up as a target in the first place. But Chilltown puts on the pressure full-force, so much so that Erika flat out tells Boogie that she knows his loyalty is to Will.
In the kitchen, Dani asks Erika what the plan is going to be. Erika tells Danielle point-blank that she is not going to put Danielle up. But back in the HoH, Janelle tells Erika that she doesn't think anyone can beat Danielle in the final two -- and that the guys just suck. She thinks that Will is "just as bad as Chicken George" when it comes to competing.
After Janelle leaves, Erika calls Boogie up. He reiterates what he's always said, backing up Janelle's summation of Danielle's chances in the finals. Erika's only concern is that, if she sticks with Chilltown, she'll end up being the Diane in the final three: Bros before Hos.
Ah, and now we get to the real drama of the night. Because outside, Erika talks again with Danielle, and admits to her that she cannot beat her in the finals. "You are too strong a competitor to keep in here," she says. Danielle says it's fine... and then goes on an emotional (and possibly slightly drunken) tear, ranting at George in the hottub about Erika. Erika makes the mistake of coming outside in time to hear it, and George just wants out of there in the worst way. Dani goes to Erika and tells her, "You won't get my vote. You won't. I gave you my heart. I looked in your eye, I made promises, and I meant it!" Now Danielle is in tears. Jewish mothers can't lay out guilt trips this heavy! Will may just have been outdone in the manipulation department. He relies on the calm and rational, but no one but Danielle has ever tried the in-your-face, you-were-my-friend routine, which seems to go straight to Erika's heart.
Erika escapes to the HoH with Will to discuss the incident. And while they do, Danielle goes up and knocks. She rings the doorbell. And rings it. And rings it. And rings and rings and rings and rings... "If she's like this now," Will warns, letting Erika know how much more intense things will be getting in the coming evictions. Will vows to the camera that he will stay in the HoH room all night to ensure that Danielle does not get the last word. And he does just that, sleeping with her (not in a Boogie way, just in a watchdog way). As usual, Will works best when he's the power behind the throne. He's the Rasputin to every Czar of Household that has ever been up this season, and stonewalling Danielle through Erika is the ballsiest thing I've seen happen this season. She's flat out shut out, and finally gives it up and goes to bed.
Not surprisingly, when Janie takes herself off the hot seat, Erika puts Danielle up without hesitation. Danielle is sullen and cold, and with the sunglasses in the house maybe slightly hung over. After nomination, Erika makes her tearful speech, but Dani is unmoved. Erika doesn't even hang around for Janelle to adjourn the meeting, walking away and leaving everyone there in stunned silence.
Of course, Chilltown isn't stunned. This is their game, and everyone else is just the pieces. We end the episode with Will and Boogie going back into their Diary Room phone call comedy skit -- somebody, somewhere, has got to find a showbiz outlet for these guys when Big Brother 7 concludes.
