Nice guys just don't finish first. ©CBS

No Pit Stop on last week’s Amazing Race, so we are still in Helsinki, Finland. Tyler and James are in the lead and it appears that CBS is remiss in giving us a soundtrack. Hmmm. I can read lips a little but not that well.Time for close-captioning. That didn’t work either so I will try to catch a sentence here and there, while you all rush to your cell phone and cuss CBS out. I did read that the next leg is at Kiev in the Ukraine, where it looks like teams grab crappie cars for their next clues.

The Producers’ Equalizer

The Barbies (Dustin and Kandice) are next. I catch them saying things like, “don’t look down,” “oh my gosh”, and “this is really high up.” Guess we don’t need that close-captioning after all. They are followed by the Snobs (Rob and Kim), and the 4Pac of Chos Bros (Edwin and Godwin) and (‘Bama Lyn and Karlyn). This plunging down the building looks really scary without words and about all I see are really scared Racers.

It is now 9:25 p.m. and Rehab and the Barbies get tickets that leave at 8:25 a.m. and get to Kiev via Vienna. ‘Bama has taken off without the Chos and get karmically lost, so the Snobs get to the airport next and find out that the ticket counter is closed until 6:00 a.m. Although the flight that goes through Vienna is now full, there is another through Warsaw, Poland.

The Producers’ Equalizer

Both flights take off around the same time, but the flight through Poland is delayed 1/2 hour, so 4Pac and the Snobs arrive later. It appears that the Barbies get someone to show them the way to the Oster Tank School and Rehab just tails them as usual. This music is really annoying now so let’s just skip ahead and say that everyone found their crappy cars and are on their way.

Roadblock

Dustin and James are the first to drive tanks through rough terrain while they are shot at occasionally. At one point James crashes into Dustin. Why do they look like they are enjoying this? At the end I see James mouthing that he is “stoked.” Right around this time I check another TV and see that it is connected to cable as opposed to an antenna, and shove a tape in it so that I will get a proper feed.

The Snobs go next and it is the kewl Kim that braves the tank, soon followed by Godwin and Lyn. In an idiotic move, the Chos wait on ‘Bama. Next stop, building 3, apartment number 33 in Kiev for the next clue.

Detour

Teams may choose “Make the Music”, where they must create a rap song that incorporates places they have already visited and perform it at The Dance and Groove. The Barbies choose this route, as do the Snobs, and 4Pac. “Find the Music” involves digging through gobs of sheet music and locating the “Concert Fantasy” at the National Music Academy. They then give it to one of 6 pianists who are waiting for it behind one of 50 rooms. This route is chosen by Rehab and eventually the Chos as ‘Bama leaves them in the dust and they get lost. Finally, Godwin finds the pianist while ‘Bama does some very convincing rappin’.

Pit Stop

The last leg takes them to the Patriotic War Memorial in Kiev. Ty and James are first and have finally beaten the Barbies. They also win a trip to Puerto Villarta in Mexico. After the Barbies come the Snobs and ‘Bama. The Chos get waylaid by local Kiev cops when they turn down the wrong street. They finally make their way to the Pit Stop and are Philiminated. They were certainly honorable, but these nice guys Phinished last.

Next week finds the four remaining teams in a toga race and a Yield is tossed in the mix.
