Lucky Barbies Don't Get Philiminated ©CBS

Ty and James (Rehab), being first to arrive last week, grab the honor of taking off this week at 7:33 a.m. They are followed by the Barbies (Dustin and Kandice), the Snobs (Rob and Kim), and ‘Bama (Lyn and Karlyn) respectively.

The teams must fly 3000 miles to Quarzazate, Morocco, then drive 4 miles to an antique shop where they pick up their next clue and a good luck charm that will be utilized at the next Pit Stop. Rehab finally figures out that it’s advisable to follow a cab, and Rob continues to have a problem changing gears no matter what car he is in.

The Barbies get to the airport first and get tickets to Quarzazate via Milan and Casablanca. No one mentions Bogart so I am assuming they are all too young for the movie. I would be humming “As Time Goes By” the entire plane trip. The other three end up on routes that go via Paris, and the Barbies almost fall for Rob’s bluff that they are going on an earlier flight.

Since the Barbies are clearly not the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree, you’d think someone would actually use this tactic on them from time to time. And don’t you find it odd that although they had all been in Kiev for quite a while, Kim was still calling it “Keev” while ticket purchasing? While the Barbies have to find another flight to Morocco, ‘Bama is clever enough to get a map on a layover in Paris.

The Producers’ Equalizer

Once they reach Casablanca, they must all get on the same flight.

After arriving at Quarzazate, the Barbies follow a taxi, and Rehab and the Snobs follow them. ‘Bama beats them to the antique shop since they utilized their intellect and have the map. They are now instructed to go to the Atlas Studios, 6 miles away. I bet they don’t remember the movie “Cleopatra” either.

‘Bama goes past Rehab, the Barbies, and the Snobs, who think they are lost. The Barbies kidnap a kid, while Rehab and the Snobs follow close behind. Once again the Barbies become lost and end up in last place.

Another Producers’ Equalizer

The doors open at 8:00 a.m. at the Moroccan Studios, so all teams must hang out at the gate till then.

Roadblock

Each team must pick someone to race a la gladiators (complete with cheering section) and pull down 2 flags. Everyone avoids the Yield, leaving ‘Bama to deal with it, but when Karlyn finallys gets her chariot, the driver is kind and they do it in much less time than the other three couples.

Since Kim has “equineaphobia”, Rob goes for the roadblock, making this possibly the first decent act he has done for her. James misses his first flag and Dustin crosses the finish line first. As the Barbies leave, Karlyn makes a familiar gesture towards them as a way of avowing her spirit of fair play.

Teams must now drive 22 miles to Idelssan and the cafe Pirgola. The Snobs have a flat and apparently don’t know it. The Barbies don’t want to tell them, but finally concede. Kim asks Rob if he knows how to change it and he can’t even figure out how to get the jack out. Rehab is first to hit the cafe.

Detour

In Throw It, teams must drive 4 miles to a pottery shop and make 2 pots. In Grind it, the pairs must go to the North African Horse Ranch and Olive Farm (odd combination), grind 7 pounds of olives, then fill pressing sleeves. The Barbies pick that because at least they know where the city is. James thinks they would be literally throwing pots on a “spinning wheel” as Ty dubs it, so Rehab decides to go after the Barbies. The Snobs and ‘Bama also choose to do this. The Barbies miss the turnoff, so Rehab and ‘Bama are the first to start grinding. The Snobs get there next and the Barbies have to wait.

Pit Stop

The teams now head for the Marrakesh Nomadic Berbercamp. Rehab is first to arrive but forget their good luck charm. Such tension. ‘Bama starts running but Rehab runs faster and win a couple of (Shameless Product Plug) Treos, because their good luck charm matches the one that the Moroccan man is wearing. Lyn and Karlyn are second, followed by the Snobs. The Barbies do not get Philiminated but must place first next week. Group hug and fade to black.

Next week, the teams race to become the final 3, and Carlyn pushes Lyn while she is chowing down on some local delicacy. The Snobs are also fighting again. This is not news, but Kim splitting before Rob certainly is.
