The timelessness of Amy Grant is made crystal clear in this compilation spanning over thirty years. Remastered from the originals, this set hearkens back to Grant's heyday, when she burst onto the Contemporary Christian Music scene during a time when the genre was barely in its formative stages.

As such, Grant's influence was one of the seminal building blocks of CCM, starting with songs that became instant classics like "Father's Eyes," "In a Little While," and the heart-impacting prayer, "El Shaddai." If Grant had recorded these three songs and quit, her contribution would have been enough.

Of course, three songs would not a compilation make (but they make my iPod list). Fortunately, Sparrow had a copious catalog of catchy tunes to fill out not just one, but two CDs. The up-tempo "Every Heartbeat" and "Baby Baby" were so "peppy" that they forced fans of Christian music to reevaluate what fit into the niche that they had presumed was Christian-approved, particularly when they began to cross over into mainstream music markets.

Old and new, traditional and contemporary, this collection is a must for fans of Amy Grant, including nine #1 hits.
