Stereokiller’s latest upgrade is a real game changer… 

It allows bands to sell music downloads and physical merchandise without charging them a fee to do so. No other site offers bands this free service. 

“Bandcamp, ReverbNation, and Topspin all take a cut of the bands’ money. Our audience consists of hard working, hard touring bands that usually support their own careers, so they can keep their money. We don’t want it,” said Chris Brickhouse, owner and operator of Stereokiller.

These are just a few of the latest changes in an ongoing effort to foster band development and promotion. New custom band pages make it easy for band’s to get a good-looking page up and running within minutes. The site allows bands to do live previews of the page before committing to the design, and the number of tracks a band can upload is unlimited, as is the amount of free downloads they can offer.

“It takes less than 10 minutes to be up and running with a full scale customizable profile, adding the music to your Facebook page, and selling your music and merch,” said Brickhouse. “I don’t think it could get any easier.” 

The sales interface allows bands to manually add items, then facilitates a transaction (single or multiple) via PayPal. There is also the option to connect to display Twitter activity, list upcoming shows, embed videos, and update fans with news, etc. 

Stereokiller.com started in 1998 as a forum for Hardcore, Metal, Punk, Hip Hop, Emo, and Indie fans. It has since become a free music hosting site and community with over 250,000 members and 40,000 bands. 

“We’re not trying to be the most popular. We’re just trying to be the best,” said Brickhouse. ”I personally hand pick bands that sign up to feature on the main page. When you have so much talent out there, you really want to get the word out there about them.”

Q’VIVA! In Q’VIVA! THE CHOSEN, Lopez, Anthony and King will travel through 20 countries to find and showcase the most outstanding Latin singers, dancers, musicians and other amazing performers. The transcontinental journey, which includes stops in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and the United States will also feature the incredible stories and personal journeys of the performers they discover.

After travelling the globe, and reviewing talent through the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet, Lopez, Anthony and King will bring the chosen ones to the U.S. to prepare for what is sure to be the most important performance of their lives in a spectacular show that will be the greatest celebration of Latin music and performance arts ever produced.

Carishma Releases New Remix for “Glow In The Dark” featuring Ark Angel

Few unsigned singers can get über-producer Timbaland and legendary songwriter/producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins to produce tracks for them. But few have had the drive, energy, ambition and talent as Carishma.

Hard work and entertainment are in the singer’s blood. Her mother is a Bollywood singer and actress who always had music playing in the house and Carishma would dance to the latest pop and Bollywood tunes. Her father is a self-made businessman who worked his way through college making pizzas and bartending; he now runs a successful business. It was this work ethic that Carishma learned early on that would pave the way for the singer’s current—and future—success.

By the time she was 5, the New Jersey-born singer was already performing daily for her family, drawing on then-current 80s pop songs and not allowing her parents to eat dinner until the show was finished. This childhood passion only grew stronger as the singer got older, with the trained vocalist recording her first song at 13 and a series of tracks for an independent label before finishing high school.

After recording with up-and-coming producers, word of Carishma’s talent and hustle quickly spread throughout the industry, eventually reaching Timbaland. While most college-age performers plan for the future, Carishma was living hers now, flying down to Miami to record the propulsive, driving dance-pop track “Keep Hangin’ On” produced by and featuring Timbaland at the vaunted Hit Factory in Miami.

Meanwhile, the acting bug that began early in life in commercials and a HBO movie continued to inspire Carishma. A graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting, Carishma’s resumé includes a long list of musicals and films that she hopes to continue in the near future.

But that’s the future. For now, the singer’s latest offering is “Glow in the Dark,” the buoyant, infectious pop track produced by Jerkins. Given that Carishma’s dance-pop sound recalls the best of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and early Janet Jackson—three superstars who have all enlisted Jerkins to help with their sound—the collaboration was a no-brainer.

The track, according to MTV Buzzworthy, “mixes old-school Britney bubble gum with a dreamy guitar riff and sexy, hypnotic beat that perfectly matches Carishma’s dance goddess-y persona.” Directed by Taj Stansberry, whose video for Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” is the second-most viewed music video of all time on YouTube, the “Glow in the Dark” video showcases the singer’s unique beauty and fashion sense. A constant multi-tasker, Carishma co-designed much of the fashion and jewelry seen in the video.

Fans of “Keep Hangin’ On” and “Glow in the Dark” won’t be disappointed by Carishma’s upcoming debut, set for release in summer, 2012. An accomplished songwriter in her own right, the singer has been working with some of the best songwriters and producers in the game today, including J.R. Rotem (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj), Rico Love (Beyoncé, Usher) and Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Bruno Mars) to create an upbeat, exuberant album that, according to Carishma, “encompasses the feelings of young love.” Carishma never had a Plan B when it came to music, but as her career has shown so far, she doesn’t really need it. Audio Fidelity Sends A Vinyl Valentine With February 14 Reissue of Sade’s ‘Diamond Life’

Marshall Blonstein, president of Audio Fidelity, has announced February 14 as the release date for the audiophile label’s 180-gram virgin-vinyl reissue of Sade’s DIAMOND LIFE album. Originally issued 27 years ago this month, DIAMOND LIFE launched the career of one of the most distinctive and enduring vocalists in contemporary pop. The LP will be issued in a numbered, deluxe gate-fold limited edition that will be available through online and brick-and-mortar retailers alike. 

The Nigerian-born, British writer-singer (born Helen Folasade Abu) struck more than gold with her debut. DIAMOND LIFE was certified four-times-Platinum in both America and the U.K. and has sold more than six million copies to date internationally. It reached No. 5 on Billboard‘s album chart, where it resided for 81 weeks, and gave Sade her first hit in the Top-10 single “Smooth Operator.” The album was also a Top-5 entry on Billboard‘s Jazz and R&B charts.

Sade composed eight of the album’s nine songs (mostly with trumpeter Gordon Matthewman), including “Your Love Is King,” which also charted as a single (54 pop, 35 R&B). The sole non-original was a cover of Timmy Thomas’ 1972 hit “Why Can’t We Live Together.” Among other standout cuts are the lightly funky “Hang Onto Your Love,” the midtempo ballad “I Will Be Your Friend” and the more pop-ish “When Am I Gonna Make a Living” (a U.K. hit).

Karmina wants “You for Christmas” with a free song download for the holidays!

Courtesy of Angry Mob Music, Karmina wants to give their fans a free download for the holidays, “You for Christmas.” This acoustic gift features the Mark Twain Ringers as well as the songwriting acumen of Kelly and Kamille Rudisill. The sisters have been doin’ it for themselves for quite some time now. From a very young age they have won songwriting competitions in California and learned their craft.

Their first live gigs found them immersed in the San Francisco club scene although they were barely in their teens. “Yes, it was unusual to find 14 and 15 year old girls performing in some of those clubs,” Kelly admits. “Most bands aren’t required to bring their dads with them. However, when you’re that age and playing in front of a bunch of drunk guys, it can be a bit sketchy.” 

Moving to L.A. to get closer to the heart of the music industry, Karmina became a regular fixture on the local music circuit, playing such well-known venues as The Viper Room, the Knitting Factory, and the House of Blues. 

A number of featured television placements and hard work paid off when a copy of the band’s demo found its way to an executive at the newly formed CBS Records.
A five-track EP, “The Kiss,” followed, with the title track reaching #24 on the Billboard chart.

Kamille was approached by Grammy-winning producer David Foster, and was given the opportunity to perform with Josh Groban at numerous high profile entertainment industry events. Foster said, “Kamille is one of those singers only found in rare air. Her voice is magical, thrilling, and, most impressively, mature well beyond her years.“

Karmina’s first album, “Backwards into Beauty,” was released in June 2008 on CBS Records and was the “2008 Billboard Critics Top 10 #1 Pick.” Their latest album, “Car Train Ship Plane,” is being distributed independently by KKR Records, and they have signed with Angry Mob Music for film & TV placement.

Karmina not only references the title of one of their favorite operas, “Carmina Burana,” but it is also the word for “song” in Latin. It’s an apt moniker for a pair of women who take their music seriously, and share the joy of their creative process with their fans this holiday season with a free song to download, “You for Christmas.”

Highly Anticipated Trailer Follows Up Broadcast Debut On Good Morning America With Online Debut On iTunes Movie Trailers

The full trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming film THE HUNGER GAMES, which will be released by Lionsgate on March 23, 2012, debuted today.  Following its national broadcast premiere on ABC’s Good Morning America in which the trailer was introduced by Josh Hutcherson, it was made available worldwide on iTunes Movie Trailers

In an attempt to preserve the anticipation and mystery that fans are relishing, the trailer only shows footage from the first half of the film, chronicling events leading up to but not including the Games themselves.  After giving fans their first look at all of the book’s beloved characters brought to life, giving viewers who haven’t read the book vital information about the world of Panem, the trailer ends with an electrifying cliffhanger right as Katniss enters the arena.

Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund – 1st Awards Gala!

DIO CANCER FUND HOSTS FIRST AWARDS GALA AT PLAYBOY MANSION IN LOS ANGELES 
 
Funds Raised for Gastric Cancer Research and Education as Seven Distinguished Supporters Receive Awards

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund hosted its first Awards Gala on Tuesday evening (November 1) at the famed Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles to raise funds for its commitment to cancer prevention, research and education. Founded in memory of Ronnie James Dio, the world-renowned voice of Dio, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell who died of gastric cancer last year, the Dio Cancer Fund has already raised more than $500,000 in its short history.  
 
Wendy Dio, widow of the late singer and Fund Founder/President, and Gloria Butler, Chairman of the Board of the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, will present the Dio Cancer Fund’s latest pledge to the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research at their annual dinner in New York this week. Additionally, the Fund has committed monies to the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated during the last six months of his life.
 
Awards named after songs written by Ronnie James Dio were presented to honorees in recognition of their support of the Fund’s important work. Eddie Trunk, host of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show,” served as Special Guest emcee and, after introducing each honoree, was surprised by Wendy Dio with the final award of the evening, the Long Live Rock ‘N Roll Award.
 
The Killing the Dragon Award went to Danny Zelisko, a cancer survivor and President of Phoenix-based Danny Zelisko Presents concert promotions, who remarked that “not a day goes by that I don’t miss Ronnie.” The King of Rock ‘n Roll Award went to Ronnie James Dio’s longtime bandmate and friend Terry “Geezer” Butler, bassist for Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell. Mike Carden, a cancer survivor and President, North America, Eagle Rock Entertainment, a leading independent record label which has released several Dio recordings, accepted the Rainbow in the Dark Award, calling Wendy Dio “the hero of this evening.”
 
In accepting the Sacred Heart Award, television medical expert Sandeep (Sandy) Kapoor, M.D., Medical Director/Co-Founder of the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, spoke poignantly about the need for better ways to screen for cancers and the public’s need to demand better access to health care and treatment. “We have to help each other,” he said, “‘stand up and shout’ to stopping cancer before it starts.”
 
Rita Haney, a tireless fund-raiser, Founder of Dimebash in memory of her late husband “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott of the band Pantera, accepted the Stand Up and Shout Award for her continuous contributions to the Dio Cancer Fund. Tony Martell, founder of the T.J. Martell Foundation, which has funded innovative medical research to find cures and treatments for leukemia, cancer and AIDS for nearly 40 years, spoke via videotape from New York. His Man on the Silver Mountain Award was accepted on his behalf by T.J. Martell Foundation CEO Laura Heatherly.
 
Among the guests in attendance were LA Ink’s Kat von D and rockers Slash, Glenn Hughes, Frankie Banali, Keith Emerson, Alex Kane, Marc Ferrari and members of the Dio band Rudy Sarzo, Craig Goldy, Scott Warren and Simon Wright as well as record producers Roy Thomas Baker and Mike Fraser and various other celebrities who popped in to show their support.
 
Event sponsors and guests were treated to cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and various gourmet food stations created by renowned chef William S. Bloxsom-Carter and a performance by the rock band Asia featuring John Payne in addition to escorted tours of the Mansion grounds and world-famous grotto and commemorative photos, some with Playboy Bunnies. Silent and live auctions, with items such as guitars signed by The Rolling Stones and U2 among others and one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia including Mohammed Ali’s signed robe and boxing gloves, proved to be an exciting addition to the evening’s festivities. Among the sponsors for the evening were Eagle Rock Entertainment, Metal Blade Records, Revolver Magazine, Chaos Visual Productions, Upstaging, Production Resource Group (PRG), ESP Guitars and Fontana Distribution.
